Circular route following the banks of the Seine, starting from Saint-Pierre-d’Autils

This walk takes you along the banks of the Seine, then through some woodland.
You’ll then pass by some beautiful old buildings in Saint-Pierre-La-Garenne.
With very little elevation gain, this walk is suitable for everyone.

Description of the walk

Park in a small car park in Saint-Pierre-d’Autils, almost at the junction of the Route de Rouen D6015 and Rue au Vaches,

(S/E) Take the only underpass beneath the railway lines to reach the left bank of the Seine. Turn left to follow the path and walk alongside the Seine. You’ll reach a Y-junction at the Île aux Bœufs.

(1) Keep to the right and continue along the Seine until you reach the locks.

(2) Turn left into Rue de Port-Mort, then onto its continuation, Rue aux Fleurs, until you reach the junction with Rue de la Muette or Rue de la Folie Morel, depending on your browser.

(3) Turn left onto this road, go under the railway lines, then turn immediately left onto Chemin Le Blanc Fossé, which runs parallel to the railway line. A few hundred metres further on, veer right to reach the D6015 at the entrance to Saint-Pierre-La-Garenne, passing through woods and fields.

(4) Cross the road with great care as it is very busy; to do so, use the pedestrian crossing a little further on. Walk up Rue de Pacy, which is almost directly opposite, until you reach the junction with Rue de l’Ancien Presbytère,

(5) Turn left onto this street and continue straight on to reach the Château de Fontenetain.

(6) Turn right onto Rue de Fontenetain and continue left onto Rue Mâcon, then Rue des Vignes. Then turn right onto Rue des Vosseaux. Follow the yellow-marked path, then rejoin the D6015.

(7) Take care here when crossing the D6015. Then follow the track to the right to find a passage under the railway lines, located a little further on; be aware that a few vehicles may use this very narrow passage, and visibility is poor. You will then reach the Y-junction you passed on the way out.

(1) Turn right and retrace your steps along the outbound route to return to the small car park at Saint-Pierre-d’Autils (S/E).

A pleasant route that follows the River Seine for much of the way. The straight stretches can be a bit monotonous at times. The return journey through the countryside is more varied, taking you through quiet hamlets and wooded areas, along grassy paths through the fields. No difficulty.

For this hike, we set off from Le Goulet (car park at Le Terminus restaurant) as we had already completed the "Bailleul, from prehistory to the present day" route and continued on with this circuit for a total of around 20 km.
Beautiful views of the valley as we emerged from the woods, vineyards and orchards, along the banks of the Seine, the lock and through pretty Norman villages.
Thank you to the author of these two routes.

To shorten the route (9.2 km), I set off from Le Goulet, which ‘spared’ me the return journey between St Pierre d’Autils and Le Goulet
A very pleasant walk along the banks of the Seine, as well as through the woods and across the plain between the locks and St Pierre
