Park on the side of the local road opposite the lodge, which occupies the former École du Vent Haut school. Take care not to obstruct traffic.

(S/E) Take the track on the left and go straight ahead at the first junction.
(1) Ignore the access to Vent Haut on the left, which will be used for the return journey, and continue straight ahead. Pass the high-voltage power line, then another fork and continue for about 20 metres.
(2) Turn right onto the path and descend to the next three-way junction.
(3) Continue to the right overlooking the Ruisseau de l'Héritier, pass under another high-voltage power line to reach the junction of the Dordogne Gorges round trip.
(4) Take the path on the right to reach the viewpoint over the gorges: see the Practical Information section.
(5) Return to the fork.
(4) Turn right and follow the track uphill.
(6) The track widens as it leaves the forest and continues towards Vent Haut. Ignore a turn-off on the right, then, at the crossroads about 60 metres further on, turn left to reach the first house in the hamlet and rejoin the tarmac road.
(7) Take the road on the left, re-enter the forest and reach a three-way junction.
(8) Take the right-hand road and continue to the junction with the RD982.
(9) Turn left and follow the road carefully for about 300 metres, passing under the power line.
(10) Take the path on the right, cross the stream and continue along the path, which curves sharply to the left. You will come to a wider path.
(11) Turn left, cross the D982 with caution and enter the hamlet of Vent Haut.
(12) Take the road on the right, then a second right, to return to the crossroads you passed at the start.
(1) Turn right to rejoin the track you took on the way out and follow it in the opposite direction to the car park where you started (S/E).
