Departure from Guérard - La Celle-sur-Morin station (accessible by train or car, see practical information).
The hike follows yellow markings almost all the way.
(S/E) From the car park, head east and quickly join Rue des Prêches. Follow this street to the right and cross the railway line via the bridge. Let the road turn right and climb the stairs opposite. Cross Rue de Bellevue and immediately turn left onto a grassy path.
(1) Continue along the path parallel to Rue de Bellevue and, after about 100 metres, turn right onto the path. Climb up through the fields.
(2) At the T-junction, turn left towards the antenna. The path joins a road: follow it to the right. Take the first street on the right that goes uphill and turns into a path. Pass a first junction, the path climbs in a trench between two fields.
(3) When the path curves to the right, climb up the gentle slope on the left and head east between the fields. In the hamlet of Montlevon, cross a road by first turning left then right. Continue east along the edge of the gardens.
(4) Turn onto the first path on the left and descend towards the village. You will come out onto a small street; follow it to the right. Very quickly, you will come out onto Grande Rue; follow it to the right as well. Immediately take the first left, Rue de la Pisserotte. Ignore the street on the right and pass under the railway line.
(5) At the end of the passage, turn left and follow the railway line. At the next crossing, go down a steep path on the right, the right-hand side of which is designed to channel a stream (Rue des Roches). Leave the church on your right.
(6) When you reach Rue d'en Bas, turn left then right to make a round trip to the three bridges of Grand Morin (an old mill).
(7) Turn around and return to Rue d'en Bas.
(6) Continue straight ahead and, at the three-way junction that appears immediately, turn left onto Route du Bertrand (leave the yellow markings). Continue straight ahead on this small road and you will come to the banks of the Grand Morin. At the intersection, continue straight ahead.
(8) At the entrance to Bertrand, follow the yellow signs and continue straight ahead. Ignore two turnings on the right. When the road turns left, continue straight ahead on the path slightly downhill, then descend to the left between the houses. Turn right into Rue des Clercs and you will immediately come out onto the D25 (Avenue de la Gare).
(9) Turn left onto the D25 and cross the Grand Morin. At the end of the bridge, take the first road on the left. After about 150 metres, when the road curves to the right, turn slightly left onto the path through the fields. When you reach the woods, turn left, then 50 metres further on, turn right.
(10) You will come out onto Rue du Bois; follow it to the left. It will quickly turn into a path through the woods. Go uphill and, when you reach the houses, cross Route du Grand Morin. Continue straight ahead on Sentier de la Croix Saint-Blandin.
(11) At the T-junction with a wider path, turn right. Stay on the main path heading north-northeast through the woods until you reach the houses (ignore two paths on the right)
(12) Cross Rue de Coulommiers and continue straight ahead. The path climbs after crossing a stream. At the junction, climb up to the right and then turn left 50 metres further on. Soon, you will pass an orchard (no trespassing!). At the end of the orchard, go down the small road on the left for 200 metres.
(13) Then take a path on the right that goes into the woods (watch out for this path). At the T-junction, turn left. Stay on the path heading south-west then west, ignoring all the paths that branch off until you reach a three-way junction.
(14) Then turn left, almost backwards, onto the path that descends steeply. When you reach the road, turn right. Follow the road and enter Guérard. At the bridge on your left, continue straight ahead for a few metres.
(15) Immediately turn right onto Ruelle de la Grimpette. Continue straight ahead and ignore a path on the right. When you reach the road, follow it to the left, downhill.
(16) At the entrance to the horse farm, leave the road and take the path on the right. Walk along the woods on your left for a long time, staying on fairly flat ground. Enter the woods. At a three-way junction, turn left and descend steeply. At the first crossroads, join theGR®1(red and white + yellow markings) and turn left. Quickly reach the Grand Morin and cross it via a footbridge.
(17) Turn immediately left and walk alongside the mill on your left. Climb up to the first crossroads. Then turn left (yellow sign; leave theGR® trail straight ahead). Follow a small road that runs alongside the railway embankment. At the first intersection, take the tunnel under the railway line on the right. Continue on a small road until you reach the village of Genevray.
(18) Go up Rue de Paradis on the right. Cross Rue des Prêches and, at Rue d'en Haut, first turn left then right to follow Rue Verte. At the end, continue on a path.
(1) At the crossroads, turn left, cross Rue de Bellevue and continue along a path. Take the bridge over the railway line and turn left to return to the car park (S/E).
