Park on the ramparts near the bridge over the Cérou.
(S/E) Start by crossing this bridge and follow the road that climbs up (D73), ignoring the roads on the right and left. You will soon reach a crossroads.
(1) Take the road on the right that descends slightly: you can follow the sign for "Fromagerie Les Cabrekes". Follow this small road for about 1.5 km to reach the hamlet of La Jouvenate and the cheese dairy. The climb is almost over. Continue along the road for 100 m.
(2) Turn right, then take the first left. After passing the cemetery, turn right, then follow the first road on the left, Chemin de la Coste, for about 500 metres.
(3) Once at the crossroads, take the path that winds down to your right. You will pass a wetland area where the cheese dairy's goats sometimes graze in summer. Cross the stream called La Zère.
(4) At the T-junction, turn right and follow this path which runs alongside the stream for quite a while. This path climbs a little, with a fork on the left which leads to a reservoir.
On your return, continue left until the next fork.
(5) Turn right downhill and cross the Zère again. Follow the path that runs alongside the stream on the other side. A few hundred metres further on, take the path that climbs up to the left and do not continue into the valley. You will come to a group of buildings, some of which are in ruins, which belonged to the Château de Saint-Hipollyte.
(6) Continue and further on, take the path that climbs to the left, as the one that continues straight ahead will take you to the middle of a field. You will reach the castle grounds.
(7) Cross the grounds, continuing straight ahead to reach a small tarmac road, which you follow to a place called the heath.
(8) Turn left onto a dirt track, the Chemin de Goudour.
(9) At the end of this dirt track, at a place called La Trune, continue straight ahead on Route de la Bouysse, which will take you back to the outskirts of the village of Monestiés.
(10) At the bottom of the descent, turn left onto the road leading to the school. Turn right (before the school) onto the road that passes in front of the gendarmerie and then the campsite and leads to the magnificent Pont du Candèze (12th century).
(11) After the bridge, turn right onto the Lices de Monestiés and return to the starting point (S/E).
