Departure from Yvris station in Noisy-le-Grand, which can be reached by public transport (see Practical Information). Alternatively, there is free parking at the station, either on Avenue des Yvris or Rue Paul Vaillant Couturier. Finally, the station car park has a bicycle garage on Rue Paul Vaillant Couturier. The hike starts at the car park on Rue Paul Vaillant Couturier.
(S/E) With your back to the station, head towards the nearby crossroads and take Avenue du Bois Saint-Martin to No. 14. Turn left to enter the woods and you will soon come to a fork.
(1) Take the path on the right heading south-west and continue straight ahead until you reach the edge of the woods. Turn left at a right angle to the path and walk along a wildlife sanctuary, which is indicated by signs along the path. You will come out onto Allée de Malnoue.
(2) Be sure to continue straight ahead without taking Allée de Malnoue. Walk along the right-hand side of a private property and the left-hand side of the wildlife sanctuary. Cross Allée des Emballés and continue straight ahead until you reach the junction with Allée des Bordes.
(3) Turn left towards the north-east and continue straight ahead. Cross the Carrefour des Princes, which you will recognise by a ruined house, and cross the bridge over the railway line.
(4) At the first crossroads after the bridge, turn right towards the south-east. Further on, leave the Bois Saint-Martin via the south exit, turn left towards the north onto theGRP® de la Ceinture Verte d'Île de France and continue for about 200 metres (red and yellow markings).
When you reach the corner of a graffitied wall, turn right into the large Allée du Parc d'Émerainville (yellowPR® markings) and walk along the wall on your left. At the end of the wall, enter the Bois de Célie.
(5) Veer slightly to the right, leaving the yellow markings. The path is wide and heads south-east. At the first intersection, leave the Allée de Célie on your left and continue straight ahead on the narrowing path. With the roofs of the houses in sight, the path comes to a halt at the railway line, turns left towards the north-east and then becomes winding. Follow it to the intersection with Chemin des Vaches.
(6) Continue straight ahead. Walk along the Étang de Célie lake on your left. When you reach a road (Avenue du Clos de l'Aumône), turn left onto the path that runs closest to the lake. Walk to the end of the path, then continue along it to reach the Prairie de Célie. Then take the stairs on the right, which will lead you to a viewpoint.
(7) There is only one way to access this viewpoint: go back down the same stairs and continue to the right until you reach the first fork. Turn right onto Sentier des Grands Prés, heading west. Continue straight ahead, following Ru du Merdereau until you reach a wall that blocks your path. Then turn right onto Boulevard du Clos de l'Aumône. Turn left and head towards the entrance to Malnoue Castle.
(8) Cross the street, head north and walk along a fitness trail and then a playground. Once you are facing the Groupe Scolaire Lavoisier school, turn left onto Avenue du 4 Août 1789 and follow it for about 50 metres. Cross Square Charlotte Corday diagonally to reach Rue de l'Ancien Monastère.
Turn right onto this road towards Parc de l'Ancien Monastère, the entrance to which is just behind the bus stop. Enter the park, continue straight ahead to the pond and go around it on the left to come out onto Avenue Charles Bras. Cross the road carefully, then turn right to reach the pond.
(9) Leave the road and turn left onto Allée des Cygnes, which runs alongside the Étang de Malnoue Sud. At the end of the lane, turn left at the barrier onto Rue Ariane to find yourself facing a fence that prevents entry to the Bois Saint-Martin.
Walk along this fence, turning left onto Rue du Berdoudou for a few metres, then immediately turning right: the fence is on your right. Walk behind the houses on your left and you will reach the north-east entrance to Bois Saint-Martin.
(10) Turn right to enter via Chemin du Berdoudou, then turn right at the intersection and continue for about 100 metres to reach Allée de Malnoue. Turn left at a right angle, continue straight ahead and cross the railway line. After the bridge, follow Allée des Princes to the right.
(1) Continue straight ahead, exit the woods and turn right to reach the RER E station Les Yvris - Noisy-le-Grand and the car park (S/E).
