Circular route around the hamlets of Bréhand from the Écuries d’Ydill

This walk starts at the Écuries d’Ydill equestrian centre. It will immerse you in an area frequented only by farmers. The area is rich in wildlife, including deer, hares and other animals. The route has been mapped out by Bréhand council with the help of local volunteers and in agreement with the landowners. You can park your car near the stables; sometimes the dogs (Raven and Ydill), who are extremely friendly, will come over to beg for a stroke. We ask that you treat the areas you pass through with the utmost respect.

Description of the walk

Park in the car park of the ‘Écuries d’Ydrill’ equestrian centre at La Touche Blandelle.

(S/E) With your back to the buildings, turn right to walk past the carriage storage shed, then take the path on the right to reach Les Communs.

(1) Go straight on, then follow the path to the left. At the junction, turn right to reach Le Refus.

(2) Take the path on the left, which winds several times before opening out onto a straight track. Follow this to the left for about 300 metres.

(3) Head right towards the hamlet known as Les Portes Cargouët. Pass the buildings, then turn left, following the signposts leading to a tree-lined path.

(4) Just before reaching the road, take a sharp right onto a path running parallel to the one you took on the way there, then turn left to reach the ‘La Vigne’ junction and the D80.

(5) Turn left onto it and walk carefully alongside it for about fifty metres. Cross the road to take a path that runs past a pond, then skirts the road you left earlier before veering off to the right and emerging onto a small tarmac road.

(6) Turn right onto this road for a few dozen metres, then turn left onto a stony track. Once at the end, carry on straight ahead along the edge of the field.

(7) Turn left, keep left at the junction, then turn left again onto the track leading to the D80.

(8) Cross it carefully, then take the road opposite. Pass the hamlet of La Roche Marie Rondel and continue for about 200 metres.

(9) Take the path on the left; further on, you’ll reach the back of the stables, where you should turn left to rejoin the D80.

(10) Turn right and follow it, then turn right again at the junction to reach the entrance to the riding centre’s paddocks. Make your way to the car park (S/E).
