Coming from Perpignan, in the village of Marquixanes, turn right towards Eus. Park in the car park at the entrance to the village after a hairpin bend.
(S/E) Follow the road downhill until you see the signs for Saint-Jaume de Calahons.
(1) Take Chemin de Rougères on the right. Pass between the houses and continue.
(2) Turn completely left and cross the Còrrec de Sant Vicenç (Saint Vincent's valley).
(3) Look for the return path on the right and continue straight ahead until the next fork.
(4) Keep to the right and follow the path, which climbs steadily, partly through the woods. You will reach a fork at a viewpoint overlooking the Canigou mountain range.
(5) Take the track on the right. Turn left then right to continue climbing the ridge. Pass an oratory and reach the hermitage, which can be seen in the distance. It was restored in 1936 and is a place of silence where a hermit lives. There is a picnic area where you can take a break.
(6) Set off again by taking the track on the left, remembering to turn around to admire the site. Walk for about 200 metres.
(7) Take the very small path that climbs to the right between low walls: this is where the Sentier des Cabanes (Cabin Trail) begins. These are restored orris (sheepfolds) reminiscent of the area's pastoral past. You will reach a fork in the path.
(8) Turn left onto a track.
(9) Take a path on the right, continuing to climb, go around the Roc de la Rondola on the right and come out onto the D619, which marks the highest point of the route.
(10) Walk about ten metres to the right, then take the very narrow path on the right. This path veers further to the right and heads south-east along the ridge of Serra Mitjana (middle mountain, medium-sized mountain). In places, the descent can be quite tricky, especially after rain. Return to the path you took on the way up.
(3) Head left and retrace your steps to return to the car park (S/E).
