Park in the Sales car park (on the left coming from Thorens), just after the hamlet of the same name. The car park has limited spaces: approximately seven.
(S/E) Take the path marked Pierre taillée, which joins a forest road a little higher up.
(1) Follow it to the right until the end.
(2) Take the path that climbs steeply and winds its way up to the Pierre Taillée.
(3) Leave the path that descends straight towards Usillon, which you will take on the way back, and turn left to reach the Belvédère de Pierre Taillée.
(4) After admiring the view of the Usillon valley and the peaks of the Glières plateau and Parmelan, return to the intersection.
(3) Descend to the left towards Usillon. The descent is on a logging trail, so it is very steep (which used to make it easier to bring down felled trees). Watch out for "ball bearings": small stones that can cause you to lose your footing on these steep paths. The trail joins the one that descends from the Col de l'Enclave and Col du Landron.
(5) Follow it to the right to reach the village of Usillon.
(6) At the intersection with the Route des Glières, turn right and follow this road for 200 metres.
(7) Turn left and descend towards the river, after passing a campsite located at a place called Les Combes.
(8) Cross the bridge over the river and continue right on Route de la Louvatière for about 700 m.
(9) Go down to the right towards Le Martinet and turn left after the bridge. Follow the river for 400 m, then leave it and go up towards Route des Glières.
(10) Turn right and keep to the right as Route des Glières is a busy road. Take care. This will take you to the Sales car park after 500 m (S/E).
