A varied route suggested by the Tourist Office, reproduced here for use with Visorando.

Description of the walk

Head towards Louhossoa and continue to the pelota court. Park in the car park.

(S/E) On leaving the car park, turn left to follow the Route d’Helette (D119) until you cross the Mouline

(1) Immediately after, turn off onto the road branching off to the right and, a few metres further on, turn left onto Chemin Chourouteco Gayna. Continue straight ahead.

(2) Continue to the right, then follow the path branching off to the left about a hundred metres further on. Ignore two turnings on the right and proceed to a crossroads by two buildings on the right-hand side.

(3) Take the path on the right (Galharia) towards Petrikundegiborda.

(4) At the junction in the bend, keep to the right and continue to the next fork.

(5) Take the path that heads diagonally to the left and reach Etxeberriko Borda. Turn left and follow the path which, further on, first turns right then left, then crosses the Mouline before joining the Helette road (D119).

(6) Take the Helette road to the left, then the first path on the right, the Chemin Pétrikundeya.

(7) Turn left onto Chemin Haranaldia. Turn right onto Chemin de Kurutxeta as far as Altzartea, then turn left onto Haranaldia to return to the Helette road (D119) at Zilantzenea.

(8) Cross near the wash house and take the path opposite, slightly to the right.

(9) Keep to the right and head straight on until you reach the junction of the circular route.

(2) Turn right and follow the outbound route in the opposite direction to return to the car park (S/E).

Too many sections on tarmac roads. Best to try again in the spring when the paths are muddy.

A lovely, easy walk offering some beautiful scenery. Suitable in all weathers. Perhaps a bit too much tarmac, but overall it’s still very pleasant.

We went for a walk on a damp, overcast summer’s day; there were plenty of quiet little roads and tracks, so no muddy paths or risk of slipping; we stayed fairly low down so as not to get caught in the mist. There were lovely views nonetheless, and you can extend the walk by heading up to L’Adarré, then either return via the circular route or take a different route back. We had a picnic by the Mouline on the way down before heading back up; it was very pleasant; if you get tired or it rains, you’re then very close to the start via the small road.

Too many tarmac roads at the start and end.
Many vehicles park directly at point 2 as the start is disappointing.
The view of the mountains is magnificent from point 2 to 5. On this stretch there are numerous walks in the hills, so it’s worth taking a detour; thanks to the map, you won’t get lost.
