Maison de la Vallée loop from Saint-Pierre-de-Trivisy

This hike takes you through valleys and plateaus, forests and viewpoints, passing through Saint-Pierre-de-Trivisy, Notre-Dame-de-Tournadous and the Maison de la Vallée du Gijou.

This hike alternates between ascents and descents, surrounded by nature, with beautiful views. Halfway along the route, you can discover the biodiversity trail at the Maison de la Vallée du Gijou.
Don't leave the hamlet of Ganoubre without visiting the Church of Notre-Dame-de-Tournadous, with its cedar tree classified as a "remarkable tree".
A long stretch of open countryside awaits you between Le Roucan and Saint-Pierre-de-Trivisy.
At the end of your hike, discover the14th-century polychrome statue of the Virgin and Child in the church of Saint-Pierre de Trivisy.

Description of the walk

(S/E) From Place du 19 Mars 1962, head towards the town hall and join the D57 on the right. Follow it uphill and turn right onto Chemin de la Béssède.

(1) At the end of the paved road, take the path that passes through a hedge and continue along a meadow on your left. At the forest track, turn right, then left at the three-way junction, going up along the Ruisseau du Frayssé. You will come to a fork near the stream at the end of the path.

(2) There is an alternative route on the left for the Circuit du Garriguet. Otherwise , before the small bridge, go up the track on the right, cross the road and continue straight ahead. Go around the lake on the left and, at the outbuildings of the Château de Bousquet, follow the wide track on the left until you reach the D89.

(3) Take it on the left, go straight ahead at the crossroads, then take the small road on the right to reach the hamlet of Las Fédials.

(4) Turn right, then descend to the hamlet of Sénégazet. Pass the hamlet and continue downhill to the D157.

(5) Turn left onto this road, pass Curvalle and, in a large left-hand bend, descend along a path on the right until you reach the Gijou (river).

(6) Continue left, then right onto the D157 to reach the entrance to Ganoubre. Follow the path that climbs left towards the church. At the crossroads, turn right.

(7) Pass in front of the Notre-Dame-de-Tournadous church. Take the path that goes around the houses via the cemetery path. At the D157, take the D157 on the left for 80 m.

(8) Follow the small road on the left towards La Thomasié. Leave a track on the right in the second bend of the road.

(9) When you reach the houses of La Thomasié, take the gravel track on the left, pass La Jasse and join the Route du Roucan. Follow the tarmac road on the right until you reach the D89.

(10) Cross it and take the dirt track on the left, then turn right, staying on the edge of the plantations, to join the road at Faubentous.

(11) Follow the road to the right. After the hamlet of Recours du Duc, you will reach the junction with the Circuit du Garriguet.

(12) Continue to the bend (elevation 629). Descend the gravel track on the left, cross the stream and climb back up towards the village. At the second intersection, continue along the gravel track, pass the cemetery and follow the paved road to the end. Then turn left to reach the town hall and right to reach the car park (S/E).

Transport: Lio line 766 - Sénégats stop 6.5 km from St-Pierre-de-Trivisy via the Maison de la Vallée trail.

(2) There is a possible variation to the left for the Circuit du Garriguet: before the small bridge, turn left for the shorter variation, the Circuit du Garriguet. Cross the stream and follow the stony track uphill. At the tarmac, continue left, pass between two houses, then in front of the Garriguet houses. At the D57, take the small Duc road opposite. After the houses, follow the track that descends to the left, cross a stream and pass the Bordos houses. At the road (Maison de la Vallée hiking junction), turn left.
