Description of the walk

(S/E) Start: Car park at Peyrun town hall. Head south and, at the junction, turn left. At the junction with the D45 road, turn left for a few metres.

(1) Turn right onto the country lane, pass the hamlet of Trandolles and join a road. Turn right onto the Arriou de Mansan, which crosses the Ruisseau de l’Anénos, and continue to the junction with the D27.

(2) Turn left and follow the D27 downhill, then cross the Ruisseau de l'Anénos again. Take the next country lane heading off to the right and continue along this road until you reach a junction with a tarmac road.

(3) Turn left, then take the path branching off to the right and turn onto the next path branching off to the right, which leads to the Chemin de l’Impasse des Lonquets after crossing the Ruisseau du Gélébat.

(4) Continue straight on, climb towards the village of Sénac and at the next junction turn right and climb up to the front of the church.

(5) At the crossroads, turn left onto the Route de Rabastens de Bigorre, pass a wayside cross on the left and continue to the next junction.

(6) Turn left, follow the tarmac road to the end and continue along the path opposite, passing the hamlet of Le Calvaire and ignoring a small path branching off to the right. You will come out onto a cross-road.

(7) Turn right and stay on this road until the junction near the oil wells, turn left and join a track. Follow it to the junction with the D27 road.

(8) Take the track opposite and continue to the junction of the country lanes.

(9) Turn left and continue to the village of Peyrun. At the junction, turn left to reach the village hall. Return to the car park at Peyrun village hall (S/E).

A very pleasant route alternating between quiet country lanes and well-maintained paths (apart from one stretch with tall, damp grass – my shoes got soaked). We passed through small villages and enjoyed beautiful views of our mountains.

From the town hall, walk down to the crossroads, 100 metres away, and turn left. This is an interesting route that is best followed in the direction indicated by ‘VISORANDO’ rather than that suggested by ‘Tourisme Pau’. As a result, the second part is more interesting than the first.

I haven’t done the walk yet, so I can’t give a review, but the description helps you get a feel for the terrain. I’ll be back soon with more comments.

A quiet route through the fields and then along a gentle ridge after passing through Sénac. A lovely walk for a Sunday morning, with a short break once you reach Sénac.
A lovely walk.
Most of the route is in the sun when it’s in the east, so take care on hot mornings.

Hello everyone.
We went for a walk today in lovely weather; the first part takes you through fields of maize and Tarbais beans. Watch out for the sprinklers. You can then stop for a bite to eat in Sénac (there are tables and benches near the war memorial). The rest of the route is more undulating and shaded, with lovely views of the Pyrenees and the surrounding valleys. A lovely route – thanks for sharing.
