Coming from Kiffis (road D21b III), cross the French-Swiss border at Klösterli. This is a farm located right on the border. The road passes through it. At the exit of the estate, turn right onto the small road and cross the bridge over the Lucelle. In front of you, at the crossroads, there is a small area where you can park your vehicle.
(S/E) From the car park, look downstream and take the path on the left that leads into the pasture, not the one that goes up to the right into the forest. This path follows the Lucelle and leads to a bend in a small road after the bridge. Go up to the right and follow this road to the Hintere Rütti farm.
(1) At the Hintere Rütti farm, just before the wayside cross, take the path on the left that descends into the pastures towards Kleinlützel (the signpost is slightly above the crossroads). Follow it to the Vordere Rütti farm, which can be seen in the distance. Join the road.
(2) Go down to the left and take the path on the right that goes through the fields (marker). Follow it to the entrance to Kleinlützel, ignoring the paths that join it.
(3) Go down to the left, cross Schullstrasse and continue downhill to the main road.
(4) Turn right, pass the bus shelter and the church. Turn right again towards Huggerwald (road sign) and follow the street of the same name. Pass the church and the school.
(5) Below the two chalets, take the path on the right (signpost) which passes between the houses and goes straight up into the forest. Follow it to the Nider Ring farm. Cross it and continue along the road to the bend.
(6) Go straight ahead towards the Ober Ring farm (marker on pylon). Cross the farm and descend to the crossroads. Go straight ahead towards Liesberg (signpost opposite). Follow the road uphill, leaving the Hohrain farm on your left. When you reach the top (650 m), go through the gate.
(7) Magnificent view of the Birse valley and the surrounding mountains. Turn right towards Ederswiler (signpost). At the bench, leave the path that descends to the left, go through the gate opposite (marker), continue along the path through the pasture until you come to a road and a small chapel (on the right). Continue along the road towards Ederswiler (signpost).
(8) At the bend, leave the road (Hof Albach farm on the left) and continue straight ahead towards Ederswiler, Hasenchell (signpost) on the path leading to the forest. Stay on this path until you come out onto a pasture. You are now at Hasenschell.
(9) Ignore the paths that lead into the forest. Stay on the path you are on and continue towards Roggenburg (signpost). It runs alongside the pasture, crosses it and climbs into the forest opposite. At the end of the path, as you leave the forest, you will come to a road.
(10) Go down this road to the Ritzigrund farm, which you can see below.
(11) When you reach the farm, turn right towards Kleinlützel (signpost) and follow the path down through the pastures (marker on pylon). Go through the gate and follow the path that winds through the pasture to the next gate. Go through the gate, cross the Erspel farm below, and descend the road to the Hintere Rütti farm.
(1) Continue down the road to the bridge over the Lucelle. Along the way, enjoy magnificent views of the Jura and Kleinlützel. In the bend, just before the small bridge, turn left and follow the path that runs alongside the Lucelle and takes you back to the car park (S/E).
