The starting point is in Rochepaule, on a small square in the shade near the cemetery, close to a Resistance memorial square.
(S/E) With your back to the cemetery, head towards the centre of the village. Turn left at the first crossroads, pass the post office and the town hall, then head towards Les Roches de Peyrhomme (multiple signs) by turning right towards the fire station.
(1) Turn left (there is a sign here too) and pass under the houses of La Selle further on, to arrive at the famous rocks 500 metres after the start.
(2) After admiring the view, continue along the marked path eastwards uphill.
(3) Join a stony path at the hamlet of Beyri and follow it to the right, following the markings. Pass the hamlets of Veillet and La Rouveure.
(4) At the fork, thePR® continues to the left. Leave it by turning right. After 300 metres, there is a sharp right turn and the path descends. 200 metres further on, there is a sharp left turn. Continue downhill to La Ratte.
(5) Option to shorten the route (see Practical Information). Follow the road that starts at the farm for 300 metres.
(6) Take the shortcut path on the right and rejoin the road, which you should follow to the right to cross the bridge.
(7) At the end of the bridge, turn right onto the road, which becomes a path and runs alongside the river for about 3 km.
(8) Keep to the right and cross the bridge. In Dard, there is a very curious house.
(9) Leave the path that climbs left towards Saint-Jeure-d'Andaure. 1 km further on, a proud fortified house stands on the slope of the other side, Chazeau de l'Ubac.
(10) Ignore the path that climbs left towards Les Chazeaux and continue straight ahead. Cross a small bridge and about 200 m further on, take a path on the right that descends towards the river. Be careful, there are no signs, it is a private path, recommended by Léon, its very welcoming owner, who lives above a sort of belvedere overlooking the valley.
(11) Take "his" footbridge, or the ford if you don't feel confident. The path climbs steeply: 150 metres of elevation gain to reach Les Peignes. There are several gates to open and close, especially: Léon's comments on this subject! After the farm, climb back up to the D214.
(12) Turn left onto the Coméat path to reach the Col du Portier. Return to the village and the starting point (S/E).
At one point, it crosses tall, poorly maintained broom bushes... with some brambles. Be careful when the vegetation returns to its spring growth rate!
