Description of the walk

Park in the car park after the hamlet of Kersécol.

(S/E) To the north of the car park, on the opposite side of the road to the parking spaces, head down a small path to the sea.

(1) Join theGR® 34, turning left to follow the coastal path to Anse de Porz Bali.

(2) At the far end of the cove, before crossing the stream, leave theGR® andtake the path on the left which climbs through the woodland towards Kersécol. Along the way, you’ll need to step over a large tree trunk. Further on, at the wash house, a small wooden staircase leads you back to the houses in Kercarn.

(3) Do not stay on the tarmac road but turn right onto Rue de Trenocoat, which soon takes you back onto a wooded path and then across fields to Chef du Bois.

(4) At the main road, turn left towards the bus shelter, then turn right onto the track signposted for Moulin l’Abbé.

(5) Leave the path and take a small dirt track on the left to reach the river visible below. You’ll rejoin theGR® 34, which you follow to the left, walking alongside the Rivière de Merrien on your right. Along the way, you’ll pass two oyster farmers at their work and the port of Merrien; continue on to reach the sea, still following theGR® 34.

(6) Near the remains of a blockhouse, a small path leads to a flight of steps descending to the sea.
Take the time to walk up and down these steps before continuing the circular route.

(1) Leave the seaside via the same path you took on the way there to return to the car park (S/E).

Worth a visit

Two oyster farmers along the way… That inevitably gives you ideas!

A short route that we combined with the “circular route along the right bank of the River Merrien”. This makes for a lovely route of around 16 km that combines countryside and sea.
There’s a bit of an uphill climb on the GR 34!

A route combining the seaside, the countryside and the River Merrien. On the coastal path, a few rugged sections around the rocky outcrops require a bit of care, but this is common on the GR 34.
