Start from the car park at Rambouillet Town Hall, next to Rambouillet Castle.
(S/E) Head towards the entrance to the château without entering, then turn your back on it and take the tree-lined path (communal guards' road).
(1) Leave the canal that borders the gardens of Rambouillet Castle and continue straight ahead along the lane. After 300 metres, veer to the left and then turn left to join Allée des Veuves.
(2) Take the first small path on the right and join the farm road that leads to the Étang de la Faisanderie.
(3) Just after the pond, you will see the Bergerie Nationale and its museum, which you can visit.
(4) Retrace your steps and, just before the farm road, take the path on the right that runs alongside the Corps de Garde forest house and leads you to the entrance of the Laiterie de la Reine.
(5) Cross the Guéville road (GR®1) and head right towards the entrance to the English Garden.
(6). If it is closed, you can still get around it. Inside the garden, follow the path that winds between the Guéville road on the right and the Guéville river on the left. Cross the river via the small bridge and continue walking along the river until you reach the path that turns 90° to the left. Continue straight ahead to reach the Hermitage.
(7) Continue on, passing the Tapis Vert, which offers a beautiful view of the Château de Rambouillet.
(8) Take the path through the English garden, which joins the rest of the Rambouillet Castle grounds, and continue straight ahead (GR®655) along Île aux Poules. Go around the Rondeau, then cross the flowerbeds towards the castle. Turn right just before the castle to exit and reach the Rambouillet Town Hall car park (S/E).
Please note: Before setting off, check the opening hours of the Rambouillet Castle park, as they may vary depending on the season.
