Loop around the Col du Pfaffenschlick

Park in the Chemin des Cimes car park.

(S/E) Leave the car park heading towards the swimming pool, then turn right to join the D77. Immediately take the path on the left, marked with a Yellow Disc, which leads you to the Sept Fontaines farmhouse inn.

(1) Turn left into the woods, taking the second path (unmarked) opposite the first building, and follow it for 500 m.

(2) Take the Yellow Disc-marked path which heads off opposite, south-east, and joins the D65 after 600 m. Cross the road carefully and turn right, then left after 50 m. Continue along this path, marked with a Blue Cross, for 500 m.

(3) Take the path marked ‘Blue Cross’ on the left, cross the D152 coming from the right and continue straight on through the village to reach the D77.

(4) Turn left and follow the road for 150 m, then take the path on the right, signposted ‘Yellow Disc’, and you’ll reach the Stiefelsberg junction after 400 m.

(5) Turn right, following the path marked with a Yellow Diamond and a Yellow Disc for about 650 m until you reach a crossroads. Ignore the two markers pointing straight ahead and take the unmarked path on the left uphill, which leads onto a forest track 500 m further on.

(6) Turn left onto it, following the Yellow Diamond to reach the Col de Stiefelsberg via a winding climb.

(7) Continue straight ahead for 20 m, then turn left onto the unmarked path leading downhill to reach the Trois Forêts crossroads.

(8) Turn left, following the Yellow Diamond and Yellow Rectangle markings of the GR®532. (On 5 July 2026, there was a sign from the Club Vosgien stating: “Route unmarked as it is currently being rerouted to a different path”.) After 300 m, descend into the anti-tank ditch and climb back up the other side. Continue following the same markings; at a three-way junction, turn right downhill to reach the D65. Turn right onto it for 50 m, and you will arrive at the Col du Pfaffenschlick.

(9) Take the D51 to the left towards the south for 50 m, then take the GR®532 to the right, signposted with a Yellow Rectangle and a Yellow Ring, heading south-west. Climb the winding road and emerge onto a forest track.

(10) Continue along this track to the left until you reach a hairpin bend.

(11) Take the path on the left, signposted with a Blue Rectangle (GR®531), which descends into the valley and joins the D51.

(12) Cross the road and continue following the same signposting. Cross the D51 a second, then a third time. Continue along the GR®531, cross the D77 and carry on straight ahead along the road for 100 m until you reach a junction.

(13) Leave the GR®531, which branches off to the right, and carry on straight ahead along the road for 200 m until you reach the edge of the woodland.

(1) Carry on to the left until you reach the D51, then turn right straight away to return to the car park at (S/E).
