Circular around Vantoux - Mey - Vallières

Short walk around Vantoux, Mey and Vallières. This short, easy route does not go through any forests, making it pleasant to do in winter when you are looking for some sunshine. It will take you to Mey Church and the Vallières wash house.

Description of the walk

Start and finish at the car park of the Vallières Socio-Cultural Centre, "La Corchade". You can get there by taking the L1 bus to the "Lorient" stop in the direction of "La Corchade"

(S/E) Go to Rue des Tournesols and follow it to the crossroads.

(1) Take the street on the right, then turn left onto Impasse du Muguet. Join Rue des Hauts Jardins, follow it to the crossroads, then turn left to reach Rue de la Gare. Head right towards the Jewish cemetery.

(2) Take the path that climbs to the left of the cemetery, pass under the motorway, then follow the small road on the left to reach the junction with the D69.

(3) Turn left to pass under the motorway again. Then turn right to follow it, then turn left onto the path. Pass under the power lines, come out onto Rue Gilbert and follow it to the junction with Rue Camille Durutte. Turn left.

(4) Pass in front of the castle and arrive at Saint-Pierre Church.

(5) Visit it if it is open, then continue the route by turning right. Follow Rue de l'École, continue along Chemin du Praillon and, at the end of the tarmac road, continue along the path that runs alongside a wooded area, then through fields, ending up on Rue des Marronniers.

(6) First turn left then right, walk along the blocks of flats, then go down the small path on the left. Follow this path, passing between the buildings and crossing two streets before reaching a third. Turn right and walk for a few dozen metres.

(7) Go down the small path on the left between the houses, come out onto Rue de la Charrière and first turn right then left to enter Rue de l'Abbé Chaussier.

(8) Take the path on the right and join Rue Jean-Pierre Jean. Turn left, pass in front of the old Vallières wash house and turn right onto Rue des Fours à Chaux. At the end, turn left.

(9) Go up the small path on the right along the stream and you will come out on Rue des Bleuets.

(10) Cross the street to rejoin the path on the other side, pass under Rue de Génivaux and turn left onto Rue de Lorient.

(11) Turn left between numbers 102 and 110, then turn right onto Rue du Saulnois to return to the car park (S/E).

Since I can't talk about the markings, I won't say anything. Too bad for those who get lost.
