Description of the walk

Park in the car park at the Salle Polyvalente, in the hamlet of Soleillas.

(S/E) Head uphill to reach the old village of Chalencon, cross through it, and join the D241. Cross the road to follow Rue du Temple and reach the village exit at the Chalencon sign. Here you will find the GR®427.

(1) Turn right onto it and follow the gentle climb to reach an antenna and a hiking sign at the top of the ridge.

(2) Leave the GR® here and turn left onto the GRP® du Tour du Pays de Vernoux, heading towards Silhac; now follow the yellow and red markings. Reach the Col de Comberon.

(3) Cross the D2 and, at the Saute-Chèvre signpost, turn left towards Silhac, leaving the GRP® markings here. Pass behind the old Auberge de Comberon, a cluster of old stone buildings, then reach a crossroads with several directions.

(4) Take the path between the roads, running through woods and fields, continue through the woods and reach the edge.

(5) Leave the woods, head down a grassy path then a track to the D241.

(6) Turn left onto it towards Silhac, walk for about 100 m then take the grassy path on the right to enter Silhac.

(7) Follow the small road on the right which climbs up to the village and reaches the church square. Head back down towards the north along the other small road which crosses the D241 further on. Cross it at the opposite side then continue northwards (do not head towards Vernoux).

(8) Shortly afterwards, take the signposted grassy path on the left to reach Vaugeron.

(9) Take the GR®420 on the left, follow it and arrive at the edge of a wood.

(10) Continue along the GR®, returning to the original crossroads at Chalencon.

(1) Turn right and follow the route taken on the way out, but in the opposite direction, to return to the car park at the Salle Polyvalente (S/E).
