Park in the car park next to the Mez nightclub in Besançon.
(S/E) Cross the bridge over the Doubs and follow the cycle path towards Beure for about 3.5km.
(1) When you reach Beure, take the tunnel on the left under the Voie des Mercureaux, just before the road bridge crossing the Doubs.
At the end of the path, cross the road opposite towards the restaurant "L'Escale". Walk past the side of the restaurant to take Rue de la Gare.
(2) Continue straight ahead through the housing estate along Chemin du Paulhiet. At the end of the street, turn left into the small lane leading up to the church.
In front of the church, turn left until you reach the crossroads.
(3) Cross over to take Rue de la Cascade. On this street, turn right onto Rue de l'Étang. Cross the bridge and turn left.
(4) Take a small path on the left behind the house. At the end of this path, turn left and cross the bridge.
(5) Turn right at the fire hydrant to take the path. Go to the end to reach the Cascade du Bout du Monde waterfall. After enjoying the view, continue along the path that climbs to the road.
(6) Go down to the left to find a path going up to the right at the sign indicating the Roman road.
(7) From there, follow the yellow and red marked trail. Continue uphill to reach a pasture with a viewpoint overlooking Beure. Cross the pasture and take the marked path between two trees to reach a hunting cabin.
(8) Take the path opposite and follow it into the woods. At the signpost, follow the signs for Chapelle des Buis for 2 km.
(9) Pass in front of the old Fort des Buis. At the next sign, head towards Chapelle des Buis via the ridge path.
(10) When you reach the chapel, take the road down to the left towards the town centre.
(11) At the bottom of the descent, take a left at the bend, following the sign for the town centre "La Jourande".
(12) At the end of the path, take the road and head downhill towards the town centre. There is a viewpoint 200 metres away. It is located below the citadel and offers a panoramic view of Besançon and the Doubs valley.
(13) Go back down the same path and take the stairs on the right-hand side of the descent.
(14) Head towards the banks of the Doubs, turn right and follow the same route back to the car park (S/E).
