Car park in the town centre, near the main road (Route de Sigale).
(S/E) From the Roquesteron car park (380m), follow theGR®510(marker 81) and take Avenue de Verdun East then North. Continue along the path and join the Route de Cuébris (D317). Follow this road on the right until you reach marker 82.
(1) Take the small path on the left (still theGR®510) which climbs diagonally and passes the Notre-Dame de Cuébris Chapel. You will arrive at the small village of Cuébris (525m).
(2) In the village, follow the Rue Principale, which heads north-west. At a fork (marker 85), turn right and cross the car park covering the Petit Riou. Follow the path to a crossroads of small roads.
Follow the Route de la Morge, the new route ofthe GR®510, to marker 105. On the right, you will find a wide path in the marl that climbs northwards (it is slippery when wet). A few hairpin bends then lead to a forest track.
(3) Follow this track north-east and then north. This will take you to the Baisse des Gauthiers (814m, marker 104), where you can see the waterfall.
(4) At the crossroads, take the path on the right (north-east) which descends. Cross the Vallon de Maubonnette (take care on the log bridge) and climb back up to marker 103. In a field dotted with stunted pine trees, follow the direction of Bau de l'Arc (east-north-east) opposite. A steeper section leads to a plateau (922m, marker 310) at the foot of Bau de l'Arc.
(5) Turn right at the hairpin bend and head south to climb to the summit (be careful of the steep north face).
(6) From the summit, retrace your steps to marker 310.
(5) Head right (southeast) to go around Bau de l'Arc on level ground (the path is not marked on the marker). Pass directly below the summit and continue south-southeast. After a few switchbacks downhill, you will reach Vallon de la Clapoure. Here too, be careful on the log bridge.
(7) Follow a zigzagging path up the arid southern slope of Verrou de la Clava. After climbing about 100 metres, you will cross this obstacle (signpost 89).
(8) A passage through the cliff via a metal staircase in the scree precedes the descent on a wide path that joins the Gros Riou (marker 88).
(9) Climb back up to the village of Cuébris via a hand-dug tunnel that leads to an 18th-century bridge spanning a narrow gorge between two mountains where the Riou flows.
(2) Head south on the road you took on the way there. Follow this road (D317) without taking theGR® which branches off to the right, and enjoy the view of the two villages of Roquesteron separated by the Estéron.
(1) Return to theGR® and follow the same route as on the way there to return to the starting point (S/E).
