The walk starts at a small two-space car park on Chemin de Carteyron, just after the junction with the cycle path. About fifty metres further on, there is another parking option.
(S/E) Head south along the shared cycle path.
(1) Turn right, then left onto the old Pignes railway line, which is paved. This section is shaded and can be cool in winter. Continue to the junction where the paths lead to the Vernatelle campsite on the left and the Moulin d’Eau (there isn’t one) on the right (private road). Go straight on and cross the bridge over the Bourrian.
(2) Take the path branching off to the left into the embankment of the concrete cycle path. This is the narrowest, uphill section, which is the only point where walkers with pushchairs may find it difficult as the path is very uneven. It is also the wildest part.
At the end of the path, pass underneath the La Croix Valmer stadium and cross the Route du Brost, which links Gassin to La Croix Valmer
(3) Take the Route de la Graillasse opposite. Please note that you are crossing private property marked ‘beware of dogs’, but access is not prohibited; keep well to the left until you reach the Route du Brost.
(4) Turn right on the descent to the junction after the bridge over the Bourrian. Please note: with children, this is the most dangerous section as cars travelling in both directions are going downhill and driving fast. Turn left at the three-way junction to stay on Route du Brost. This road offers the most beautiful scenery all the way back to the starting point: the Massif des Maures, La Croix-Valmer (behind you), Gassin above on the right, vineyards, pretty farmhouses, umbrella pines, mimosas, almond trees, periwinkles, borage… depending on the season.
(5) Keep to the right, staying on the Route du Brost, and pass several isolated houses.
(6) Leave the road and turn right onto a lovely track. Follow this track, ignoring the right-hand turn-offs, some of which form part of other walks. Pass Riboty and reach a junction near the D89.
(7) Take the track on the left, heading downhill, and enjoy the final views. Return to the cycle path.
(1) Turn right to return to the car park (S/E).
