Departure from Place Hoche. Several ways to get there:
- By car: paid parking in the underground car park at Place Hoche.
- By bus: lines 36, 51, 70, 71 and 151ex
- By metro, line A: Place Sainte-Anne stop (9 minutes from the station). In this case, start the route from Place Sainte-Anne.
(S/E) Head north-west from Place Hoche and turn left onto Passage des Carmélites. At the end of the passage, take the second left onto Rue d'Antrain. Then take the first right and cross Place Sainte-Anne. At the bottom of the square, turn left onto Rue Saint-Michel.
(1) Turn right onto Place Saint-Michel and cross Place des Lices. Walk along the two market halls. After the second market hall, take the small cobbled pedestrian street, Rue des Portes Mordelaises, almost opposite, to the left of the bar and restaurant. Cross the drawbridge between the two towers. At the end of the passageway stands Saint-Pierre Cathedral.
Continue along Rue des Dames, on the right-hand side of the cathedral. Walk past the former Saint-Yves Chapel, now the Tourist Office. Continue along Rue Saint-Yves, then Rue Beaumanoir and Rue Ferdinand Buisson, which leads to Place de la Mairie.
(2) Cross the square between the Town Hall on the left and the Opera House on the right. Take Rue de Brilhac at the top and right of the square. Then take the first left, Place du Parlement de Bretagne. Go around the square, passing in front of the Parliament of Brittany (now the Palais de Justice). Continue around the square on the right and, at the bottom, turn left onto Rue Saint-Georges.
At the end of the street, turn left onto Rue Gambetta. Walk past the Saint-Georges swimming pool and immediately turn right onto Rue Victor Hugo. Continue along Rue Martenot. Just after the Anne de Bretagne public secondary school (on the left), you will find one of the entrances to Thabor Park.
(3) Go through the gates and up the stairs. Take the path that goes up to the left of the waterfall. At the top, turn right and cross the footbridge over the waterfall. Take the first path on the left, then turn right near the aviary. Continue straight ahead, passing by the playground. Continue to the right towards the rose garden. Walk around it, then head back up towards Allée des Tilleuls. Take the path on the right, then on the left. Walk past the orange grove. Continue straight ahead, passing by the bandstand, the café terrace and the old merry-go-round.
(4) Opposite, take the exit that crosses the Jean Zay school grounds. At the end, the path turns left to reach Saint-Melaine Church. Cross the church car park on the right. Opposite, take Rue Saint-Melaine. At the end of the street, you will be back at Place Hoche (S/E).
