The start point is at Place de la Mairie. The main trail markings are blue.
(S/E) Head south-west along the D14, then turn right down towards a footbridge to cross the Creuzançais.
(1) Head back up to rejoin the road. Continue to the right until you reach a roundabout. Go round it and head south.
(2) At the cross, take the path on the right.
(3) At the junction, turn right. Carry on straight ahead, ignoring the path that branches off to the right.
(4) At the 137-metre mark, turn left towards the south-west and carry on straight ahead at the next junction. The Étang de la Garde is visible on the right. Carry on to the corner of the Étang Crachat (elevation 147). Let the path descend to the right. Follow the edge of the pond to continue north-west. At the next corner, turn left towards the hamlet of Les Petits Champs.
(5) Leave the road on your right, walk straight through the hamlet and take a grassy path. You’ll reach a crossroads.
(6) Ignore the blue markings heading straight on and follow the path on the left, then turn right onto the path that leads back to a junction you passed on the way out.
(3) Follow the same path as on the way there until you reach the cross.
(2) Head back towards the centre of Arthon, crossing the Creuzançais via the road bridge. Admire the wash house below and the castle grounds, which are currently being restored.
Head up to the right towards the church. Walk round it to return to the Place de la Mairie (S/E).
