(S/E) Starting from the Colorado oil mill in Rustrel, the route heads due south towards the Doa.
(1) Turn left just before the ford, then cross another one a little further on. After crossing, follow the path that runs alongside the river.
(2) Enter the Colorado Provençal site. Follow the orange markings: solid line = main route – dotted line = optional additional route. This is the Belvédères trail. Do not leave the official path. Do not cross the boundaries marked by ropes or barriers.
(3) A photo stop is a must at the Sahara viewpoint. Continue your visit along the Belvédères trail.
(4) Sahara viewpoint: view of the Sahara from a high vantage point.
(5) Viewpoint over the Cheminées des Fées. Continue the tour.
(6) Viewpoint over the White Desert. Continue along the path to the Piste du Colorado (DFCI).
(7) Take the track to the right towards the Cirque de Barriès: another magical sight, off the official trail, awaits you there!
(8) Continue along the track.
(9) Take the path that climbs straight up and cuts across two bends in the track.
(10) Turn right onto the path marked with a yellow line towards Pradenques. Then take the small tarmac road on the right towards the Domaine de Massieyes.
(11) At the entrance to the estate (gates), follow the path which climbs to the left and leads to a country lane; follow this to the right.
(12) Turn right onto the path that descends through the woodland and follow the path marked with a yellow line to the Croix de Christol.
(13) Head down to the right along the path towards Istrane and Rustrel. Take care where the path runs alongside a cliff.
(14) At the end of the path (wooden barriers), continue to the right, wade across the small stream, walk past a disused building and then along the Doa to the ford.
(1) Turn left, heading in the opposite direction to the way out, cross this river to return to the starting point (S/E).
