The entrance to the Colorado Provençal is located at the "Mille Couleurs" car park along the D22 between Rustrel and Gignac.
(S/E) At the car park exit (marker 1), follow the orange markings of the Sentier des Belvédères trail in the direction of travel.
At marker 2, turn right and follow the trail along the bed of the Doa River. Don't forget to go to marker 7 to see the view of the fairy chimneys. From marker 13, the trail begins to reach the ochre quarries, and the red sandy soil appears.
(1) From marker 14 to marker 21, the trail crosses the old main quarry called "Sahara". Do not go beyond the wooden stakes that mark the fragile areas. The ochre sand dunes must not be climbed in order to preserve them.
(2) Marker 21 indicates the continuation of the Orange route towards marker A. The Blue trail returns to the car park. The Orange route requires a minimum level of fitness and good footwear. Take the Orange marked trail into the forest to reach three viewpoints: the Sahara viewpoint, the Fairy Chimneys viewpoint and the White Desert viewpoint.
(3) The first viewpoint overlooks the main quarry. Continue along the trail.
(4) The second offers a view of an old quarry where fairy chimneys are located. Return to the trail from marker I. At marker J, take the trail on the right. Marker L indicates the "White Desert," a kaolinite quarry. Take the trail on the left to return to the car park.
(5) Continue to follow the orange markings to return to the car park (S/E).
