Departure from the Esplanade de Verdun (car park).
(S/E) Reach the northern end of the esplanade.
Pass the florist on your right and turn right onto Rue de la Tuilerie towards Villaudric and Vacquiers.
Pass a car park on the right (another possible starting point) before reaching a crossroads.
Turn right towards Vacquiers.
100 metres further on, at the bend, take Chemin de Geordy opposite.
200 metres further on, on the right, you will see a very low old building, which is a former tile factory.
Continue straight ahead on Chemin de Géordy. When you reach the dead end sign, continue for a few metres.
(1) Take the first left.
Chemin des Martis (after the right-hand bend) soon becomes unpaved and descends alongside a field before entering the woods.
The path descends to the bottom and then begins to climb again.
Opposite is a wooden bench; follow the path that climbs up to the left.
(2) After a steep climb, you will reach a tarmac road at a place called Les Martis, which you follow straight ahead.
The path soon turns right.
After about a hundred metres, it is no longer tarmac. This path leads you to the bottom of the hill.
(3) A sign tells you that in all directions, this is the Chemin aux Papillons (Butterfly Path).
Take the left path towards Cabiès. A stream runs alongside the dirt track on the left.
On the right, you walk alongside a long fence. Behind it, you can often see deer and fallow deer.
(4) As soon as the path becomes tarmac, leave it a few metres further on and take a path that branches off to the left.
After 300 metres, it turns sharply left to join Chemin des Cabiès, which you take to the right.
(5) At the end of this path, turn left (do not follow the yellow markings).
Chemin de Grisou leads to the Vacquiers road.
Turn right and follow the road carefully for 150 metres.
Leave the road and take the first path on the left, the Chemin des Aynats, which goes up the hillside.
(6) When you are almost at the top, take the second path on the right, the Chemin de Traouquet.
Continue straight ahead; the path is no longer paved, but keep going straight ahead and follow the trail.
(7) The path (which is not shown on the IGN map) enters the woods and descends mostly in a north-northeast direction.
At the first intersection, follow the widest path on the right.
After passing a kind of dry ditch, turn left at the intersection, still heading north-northeast.
At the next intersection, turn left.
The path widens and runs more or less along the edge of the woods, with vineyards and meadows.
(8) At the edge of the woods, take the dirt track on the right that runs alongside the woods.
Take the second path on the right that enters the woods.
Cross the woods, heading south-southwest.
Always choose the leftmost direction to reach the edge of the woods.
When you reach a wider dirt track, turn left and walk along a wire fence on your right. Continue straight ahead until you reach a tarmac road.
(9) The Chemin de Galitran joins the Bouloc road (D30).
Take it to the right for 50 metres, then turn left towards Villeneuve-lès-Bouloc (D45a).
Go downhill and cross the village. It is very well laid out with pavements and lots of flower beds.
(10) At the exit, at the bottom, take the path on the right (altitude 132).
Chemin de Péchbuscla continues as a dirt track, bordered by a wide ditch on the left.
(11) At the first intersection, turn left.
Chemin de la Garenne, a wide dirt track, climbs back up to the village of Bouloc to join the Esplanade de Verdun (S/E).
