Three viewpoints over the meanders of this iconic river are on the programme: Le Jambon, at the starting point, La Roche à Saloru at km 8 and Les Huit Semois at km 9.5.
Ups and downs in terms of terrain, but not at all in terms of relationships, quite the contrary! The Namur Ardennes, on the Semois side, is very hilly! The route will test your calves, so it is best to avoid it in wet weather and to follow it in the suggested direction rather than in the opposite direction.

Other walks in the area
The Jambon viewpoint from the heights of Vresse

Walk along the Kelhan footbridge and the Membre tunnel in Bohan
Discover a beautiful walk combining nature and heritage between Bohan and Membre, in the Semois valley. The Kelhan footbridge, suspended above the river, offers direct access to peaceful forest trails with superb views of the meandering Semois. Continuing towards Membre, the route takes you to the old railway tunnel connecting the two villages. Approximately 1.5 km long, this disused, dark and cool tunnel impresses with its unique atmosphere. It is advisable to bring a torch. This easy and original circular route combines Ardennes landscapes, railway heritage and the charm of small villages.
Orchimont – Nafraiture – Barrière de Mointerne
This pleasant route follows the Nafraiture stream upstream to the village of the same name, reaches the Belgian-French border and returns via the other side of the same valley.
Between Nafraiture and Vresse-sur-Semois
Starting from the old Orchimont local tram station, set off to explore La Roche à Campa along the French border. Then head towards the Flachîs chapel, followed by the Camp des Blaireaux – a reconstruction of a resistance camp – and finish at the Roche des Fées in Vresse-sur-Semois.
From one bank to the other of a bend in the Semois
A beautiful approach to a bend in the Semoy and its landscape. Alternating between quiet sections and physically demanding sections
Please note: this short but challenging route can only be completed in summer when the Kelhan footbridge is in place.
Ardenne-Gaume Nature Reserve
Also known as: Bohan-Membre Park. The valley is very steep-sided, with steep slopes, but part of the hike will be along the Semois and on the ridges.
Walk around Bohan
La Croix viewpoint and La Cuve viewpoint offer two beautiful views of the Bohan hills, which you can explore before returning via the Sahu woods.
Walk from "La Croix" in Bohan
The walk from La Croix to Bohan is a 5.2 km loop starting from the church, marked in red, white and red. A steep path leads to a cross offering a superb view of the Semois valley.
