Car park on Rue des Sources du Viaur (trail welcome sign), at a place called La Clau.
(S/E) From the car park, continue along the D2, turn right in front of the restaurant and join Rue du Centre on the right.
(1) Turn right until you reach the cross. You have been following the red and yellow markings ofthe GRP® Grand Tour des Monts et Lacs du Lévézou. Turn left and continue to the junction by the cemetery.
(2) Then continue right onto Route du Puech du Pal for 200 m and turn right again onto Chemin de la Clau in Lavernhe. After 1 km, you will rejoin theGRP® Grand Tour des Monts et Lacs du Lévézou. Follow it for about 1 km. On arriving at the Bois de Ventajou, you will find a small pond on your left, with an information board.
(3) Leave theGRP® on your left as it climbs up to the Puech du Pal and continue right along the forest track through the plantations. At the next junction, turn right.
(4) Enter the forest by taking a sharp right-hand bend. Follow the markings carefully.
This section runs closest to the headwaters of the Viaur and eventually joins the Viaur stream, which the path follows.
Continue along this path until you come out onto the D2.
(5) Follow it to the left for 200 m, then turn right onto the Chemin de Destels (or petite route de Desteillous) for 250 m.
(6) Leave the road and follow theGRP® to the right. Turn right twice more until you reach the old village of Le Lac (a former stop on the Roman road).
(7) In the hamlet of Le Lac, turn right towards Laclau onto a farm track which joins the D182.
(8) Follow it to the right for 100 m, then rejoin the D2 for 200 m to the left until you reach the car park (S/E).
