Park at the exit of the village of Vresse-sur-Semois in the direction of Membre (car park under the chapel, along the main road).
(S/E) From the Rue Albert Raty car park, turn left towards the centre of Vresse and take the Pont Saint-Lambert bridge over the Semois on the right, while the main street bends to the left. Climb towards the village of La Forêt.
(1) Just after the second house (No. 8, on the right) and the top of the cemetery (on the left), take the farm track on the right that runs along a hedge. This turns at a right angle to the left after about 50 metres and runs alongside pastures. Turn right just after the pasture, into the hayfield (before the pine forest) 50 metres further on, following the fence (the path is not very visible). At the end of the pasture, turn right and follow the fence. The path eventually enters the woods.
(2) At the intersection with a wider path, turn left and follow it uphill.
(3) The path widens and crosses a forest track on the right: take this track and continue uphill.
NB: this crossroads marks the start of the Sentier des Légendes (Legends Trail) (information board).
(4) After 300 m, leave the main path and take the intermediate path on the left (signposted "Sentier des Légendes" and slabs with proverbs). The path then turns left (several themed stations).
(5) The path leads to a tarmac road (La Cherreau), which you take to the right. Ignore the paths on the right and continue past the houses. The path gradually narrows and eventually enters a wood as it climbs. After climbing for about 50 metres, ignore the first path just at the edge of the wood and take the forest path on the left. Follow it to the tarmac road, which winds around at this point. Turn left to descend towards the village.
(6) At the next bend (left-hand curve), take the small path that starts outside the bend. This path runs alongside a wooded valley (on the right) and meadows and gardens (on the left). At the end of the path, it turns left and becomes tarmac. Turn right at the crossroads (walk past the wash house on the right).
(7) At the entrance to the woods (small crossroads), turn right and check that the wooden bridge is accessible (see sign!) : if it is, continue for 400 m; if not (e.g. in winter), take the path on the left, which leads directly back to the Pont Saint-Lambert at the entrance to the village of Vresse (caution: muddy in wet weather).
(8) The path gradually approaches the Semois. Take the small fork to the left and cross the wooden bridge (one long section followed by a short section). On the other bank, take the first path on the left (across the meadows, muddy in wet weather) or the second, more stable path (the two paths meet after 650 m). Continue along the stony path to the small stone bridge, which you cross. Continue straight on to the car park (S/E).
