(S) Park near the Villeneuve shopping centre, which is on the right-hand side of the main road towards Briançon (the roundabout indicates the Casse du Bœuf chairlift, the car park is on the right). From the car park, return diagonally to the main road (mountain bike hire shops) and follow it to the right for about 100 metres.
(1) Take the bridge on the left over the Guisane, then turn right onto Rue de la Guisane in old Villeneuve. Pass in front of the church and then take the road that climbs towards La Salle-les-Alpes.
(2) Take the path on the right that leads to the Saint-Barthélemy Chapel. Nice view and benches.
Continue towards the village of La Salle, with its beautiful sundial in the main square ("toutes les heures blessent, la dernière tue" - "every hour hurts, the last one kills"), pass in front of the beautiful church of La Salle (usually open) and continue along the street towards another chapel.
(3) After the chapel, cross the stream and take the path that climbs to the left. At the next fork, take the left path that zigzags through the forest and crosses the stream via a bridge. Leave the path that descends along the stream on your left and continue to a crossroads.
(4) At this crossroads, a small steep path starts on the left: take it (steep at first) and follow the small irrigation canal. Beautiful views all along the way, very beautiful trees.
(5) At a crossroads under a beautiful maritime pine tree, take the wide path that descends to the left towards the village of Villeneuve. Then turn left onto the main street, return to the bridge, cross it and head back to the car park where you started.
At the roundabout before it, turn left onto the street that goes up towards the UCPA (do not take the Route du Bez). Leave the UCPA on your left and continue to the entrance of the village, which you will cross. Beautiful houses, small church, communal oven.
(6) Continue along this street which leaves the village and then descends towards the Guisane, which you first follow by turning right. The street passes in front of the shopping centre and you reach the car park.
