Access: From Saint-Chaffrey (Serre Chevalier), take the Col de Granon road. It takes about 20 minutes by car to reach the large car park at Col de Granon.
(S/E) When you arrive at the car park, take the first path on the left (signposted Lac de l'Oule).
Continue for about 300 metres until you reach a fork and a sign for Lac de L'Oule.
(1) Take the path on the right. You will reach Col des Cibières (altitude 2,525 m).
(2). Take the path that climbs opposite (signposted Porte de Cristol) to reach Crête de la Gardiole. As you climb, you will notice a stone wall on your right. The climb becomes steeper as you reach the summit of La Gardiole (altitude 2,760 m), which is occupied by an observation post. There is a beautiful 360° panoramic view.
(3) Descend on the opposite slope (towards the east) via a small, very discreet and unmarked stone path and, a few metres further down, continue south to reach a fork (altitude 2,570 m).
(4) Take the path on the left (not marked, heading north/east) to reach the Col de l'Oule.
(5) Descend the north slope opposite to Lac de l'Oule (altitude 2,430 m) via theGR®57marked in red and white.
(6) Return to Col de l'Oule via the same route.
(5) Follow theGR® trail to the left for 300m, then leave it (on your left) and continue straight ahead (south) to cross the Plateau des Cibières. This trail is marshy in places and you may see a few small lakes.
Approach a ridge and finish at the Col de Granon car park (S/E)
The lake is very beautiful, with a superb shore where you can relax and swim.
