Description of the walk

Park in the car park behind the church in Cambligneul.

(S/E) Set off towards Aubigny-en-Artois. Note the commemorative plaque for the 1870 War on the school wall, then walk past the beautiful Town Hall and reach a junction. Turn left onto the D73E2 towards Camblain-l’Abbé. After 400 metres, turn right into Ruelle Brune, a good path which eventually turns left to join the D49E5.

(1) Follow it to the left for about 1.5 km; it isn’t very busy, but do take care nonetheless. You’ll reach a T-junction where you rejoin the D73E2. Follow it to the right, passing the old railway station on your left, and you’ll reach another T-junction.

(2) Turn right into Rue de l’Église. 100 metres further on, turn left and you’ll reach a three-way junction in front of the church.

(3) Take the left-hand lane (with a beautiful building on the left). Walk past the church on the left and you’ll reach a T-junction opposite the cemetery. Take the lovely little path (staircase) on the left, which leads you up to the D 341.

(4) Follow it for about a hundred metres to the right before turning left onto Rue du Calvaire. At the T-junction, turn left, pass the private school (on the right) and reach a crossroads.

(5) Turn right (Rue de Longuigneul) and continue to a T-junction where you’ll join the Chaussée Brunehaut.

The route is pleasant, passing through some lovely villages. On the section of the Chaussée Brunehaut that’s closed to traffic, we missed the pond. Nearby, there’s also a feudal motte, which we didn’t see. It’s worth another walk.
