Description of the walk

Park in the car park in front of the church and around Avesnes-les-Aubert.

(S/E) At the crossroads of Place de l'Église, turn left onto Rue Camélinat and after the town hall, turn right onto Rue Pasteur. At the intersection with Rue Waldeck Rousseau, turn left and ignore the three streets on the left and the path on the right.

(1) Turn left onto Chemin Rural de la Gare, continue along Rue des Collecteurs, cross the bridge and continue to Rue Henri Barbusse.

(2) At this crossroads, turn right and continue left onto Rue Henri Barbusse, then onto the road called Gare du Nord (rare).

(3) At the Le Grand Champ intersection, turn left, follow the road until you reach the farm on your right and take the road opposite towards Saint-Aubert.

(4) At the junction with Rue Gambetta (Saint-Aubert), turn left. Go under the bridge and at the next intersection, turn right onto Rue de l'Église. Pass the church and, at Place Breucq, continue right onto Rue de l'Église.

(5) At the Place Basquin Lasselin crossroads, turn right and take the second right onto Rue Victor Hugo. At the end of the street, turn left onto Rue de Villars, then at the three-way junction, continue straight ahead onto Rue du Château d'Eau and turn left, ignoring the road on the right that leads to the water tower.

(6) At the bend in the D97, turn right, then left onto the road towards Villers-en-Cauchies and turn left onto the D45.

(7) Turn right onto the D45 and at the water tower, turn onto the path on the right (Villers-en-Cauchies). At the crossroads with Rue de Saulzoir, turn left and continue for approximately 250 m.

(8) Turn right onto Rue Jules Guesde and continue to the end. At the intersection with Rue d'Haspres, turn right, then between houses 23 and 33, turn left onto Chemin des Tommies.

(9) When you reach the D74, turn right, then left onto Chemin Fond du Riotery and ignore the two roads on the left.

(10) At the T-junction, turn left and stay on this road, heading south-west until you reach the D114.

(11) Cross the D114 with caution, continue straight ahead towards Rieux-en-Cambrésis and take Rue Waldeck Rousseau (Rieux-en-Cambrésis).

(12) Take thefirst road on the left, Rue Émile Zola. At the end, turn left onto Rue Jules Guesde.

(13) At the church, turn left onto Rue Léon Gambetta. Follow this street, which crosses the Erclin (or Enclain) river, and continue on Vieux Chemin de Rieux. Turn right.

(14) Turn right onto Rue Karl Marx (Avesnes-les-Aubert) and cross the river again. At the intersection with Rue Jules Ferry, go straight ahead to Place de l'Église and you will arrive at the starting point (S/E).
