A visit to the Abbey Church of Saint-Martin, overlooking the canal valley, is well worth a detour.
Whether at the start or the finish, in Vorly, a stop in front of the listed gateway to the 12th-century Church of Saint-Saturnin is a must.

Route No. 11. A connecting walk to the ‘Le Tour de Bourges’ route, along the left bank of the lake and its biotope observatory, through the low-lying alkaline marsh of the Val d’Auron. The old Berry Canal, which has unfortunately been filled in as far as the Etourneau lock, nevertheless makes for a lovely greenway. In Plaimpied, the 11th–12th-century Saint Martin’s Abbey Church is well worth a visit.

Link No. 09. Connecting walk to the ‘Le Tour de Bourges’ route, exploring a section of the Way of St James. Between La Chapelle and Morthomiers, the road is unfortunately the only link. The other access routes, including the one via the Roman road, have been destroyed, closed or are on private land. After Morthomiers, the route rejoins the Bourges–Argenton Roman road. The section crossing the Saint-Florent viaduct, part of the strategic Bourges–Issoudun line, offers a magnificent view of the Cher valley.
