(S/E) From the car park at the town hall, head uphill along Lindenstraße onto Flöhatalstraße, turn left, then right into Mühlenweg, past the Pockau Oil Mill Technical Museum.
(1) After about 200 m, take the bridge over the River Pockau on the left, crossing Talstraße and the railway line.
As we do so, we follow the white-green-white markings to the Talkanzel (Hohe Steine).
The first climb to the summit is rewarded with a fantastic view of Pockau. The easy forest path leads us on to the start of the alpine hiking trail.
Please note: The path is not recommended in snowy, icy or rainy conditions!
(2) We climb the ‘Talkanzel’ viewing rock at 560 metres above sea level. Take a break and enjoy the fantastic view of the romantic valley of the Schwarze Pockau!
(3) We continue along the green trail and reach the valley road, where we walk a short distance to the left until the green-marked hiking trail on our left leads us into the idyllic Knesenbach Valley.
(4) We reach the town of Zöblitz (a town known for its serpentine stone and home to a Silbermann organ). Here, in the valley of the Knesenbach, the return walk to Pockau begins.
(5) We turn left onto the yellow-marked ‘Schwarzer Weg’ and make our way back to Pockau via Vorwerk Zöblitz and along the ‘Allee der Jahresbäume’, a new avenue of trees planted by the Sachsenforst. (S/E)
