Description of the walk

Start/finish: Ehrenfriedersdorf Tin MineVisitor Centre , Am Sauberg 109427 Ehrenfriedersdorf

(S/E) This nature trail is designed as a circular route and begins at the Ehrenfriedersdorf Tin Mine visitor mine on the Sauberg. One of the Purpl Path artworks created for Chemnitz 2025 European Capital of Culture is located here. From there, the trail continues into the industrial estate and then along the old narrow-gauge railway line to the Greifenbach Valley.

(1) The trail continues along the Röhrgraben to the Greifenbach reservoir.

(2) Along the way, you will encounter numerous reminders of the old mining industry, such as tunnel entrances and ruins of stamp mills.

(3) The climb to the Greifensteine viewing rock offers sweeping views of the Ore Mountains.

(4) The Albin-Langer-Wege trail continues to Ehrenfriedersdorf, from where you can return to the Sauberg via the old miners' trail "Lange Gasse" (5). (S/E)
