Park in the square by the church in Vailly-sur-Sauldre.
(S/E) With your back to the porch, turn right onto the Grand Rue. Follow signs for Barlieu, cross a small bridge and then turn right towards Pierrefitte-es-Bois
(1) After the sign marking the exit from Vailly-sur-Sauldre, turn left onto the C2 towards Barlieu. Turn left at the wayside shrine towards Les Montagnes. Pass through the hamlet of Les Montagnes, leaving the tarmac for a grassy path that descends further along. The path curves northwards.
(2) At the fork in the road, keep right. Turn left downhill until you reach a cross-path.
(3) Leave the lane before it becomes tarmac by turning right onto a grassy path leading uphill at the corner of a house.
(4) Turn left onto a busier track when the path opens out and immediately leave a path on your right. The route descends towards the Épine valley then climbs back up towards Barlieu. In Barlieu, pass the first junction.
(5) Take the first street on the right after the church, then turn left towards the cemetery, heading uphill. Turn left where you meet the Route de la Vigne, then left again at the cross.
(6) At the crossroads, turn right towards Le Petit Veslon. Continue along the Chemin du Petit Veslon, leaving the tarmac behind as you head downhill. The hamlet of Veslon soon comes into view. Take the tarmac road, turning left at the cross, to pass by the farms.
(7) Take the D95 to the right just after the silos towards Dampierre-en-Crot, crossing the two bridges over the Sauldre.
(8) At the crossroads, turn left towards Les Bardins. Leave the private track on your left and keep right as soon as you’ve crossed the stream. Continue along the tarmac, ignoring the adjacent tracks.
(9) Continue straight ahead on the track until you reach the D11 (take care) and keep left at the Fork in the road to run alongside a small pond, ignoring the private track on the left.
(10) Leave the tarmac and take a grassy path to the right, then immediately to the left. Cross the D923 (take care) to take the path opposite, slightly to the right. Turn left when you reach a cross-path, under the hedgerow, and continue along the edge of the woodland, leaving the turn-off on the right. This path eventually turns right to meet the D926, onto which you will head left (take care).
(11) Turn right onto the D923 at the junction, then left towards the church (S/E).
