The walk starts at Place Darcy in the centre of Dijon: you can park in the car park underneath the square.
(S/E) Head south-west towards the railway bridge, which you will cross at the bottom of Boulevard Sévigné.
(1) Opposite the bridge, enter the botanical garden of the Arquebuse alongside the museum (Natural History Museum, well worth a visit). Depending on the season, you can discover some beautiful plants. Cross the garden and walk past the Grande Orangerie to exit onto Rue Jean de Marville to the south of the park. If you have a little time, you can visit the Science Museum (two museums in the same garden). Take Rue Jean de Marville to the right, then the first left, Rue Champmol. At the end of this street, turn right into Rue du Faubourg Raines and, a hundred metres further on, left into Impasse Thibaudot.
(2) At the end of this cul-de-sac, you will arrive at the Coulée Verte, which you will take to the right (westbound) until you reach Lac Kir. If you feel like it and have time, a variation of the walk can add 3.6 km by going around the lake on the left.
(3) About 500 m after the lake dam, cross Avenue du Premier Consul and take a path that passes under the railway line. Along the avenue, less than 100 m from the start of the path, you can see an imposing statue of a French army grenadier.
(4) Head south to reach the lake's viewpoint. Continue north-west.
(5) From the viewpoint, retrace your steps to Rue du Sergent Avril. Continue along this street for a good hundred metres, then turn right onto Chemin des Boissières and continue along Rue du Réservoir.
(6) Cross Boulevard de la Chèvre Morte at the traffic lights. Continue straight ahead onto Rue des Marmuzots. About 300 metres further on, enter Parc des Carrières Bacquin. Take a moment to stroll around this peaceful spot (an example of an old quarry converted into a landscaped park). Exit the park to the south and join Chemin des Carrières Bacquin.
(7) Turn left, then left again onto Rue de Bellevue to descend Rue des Perrières, overlooking the station. Continue along this street until you reach Rue du Rosoir below Square Darcy. Go up this street, turning left.
(8) At the next intersection, a gate allows you to enter Square Darcy to finish your walk. After crossing the park and walking along the pond, before the exit leading to the starting point, you will notice a work by the Côte-d'Or sculptor born in Saulieu, François Pompon (sculpture: the Bear).
You are now back at Place Darcy (S/E).
Very pleasant hike!
