Filhols loop
A route for skipping merrily across streams and admiring the scenery from above!
Fed by the Garonne, the Tarn flows gently through the surrounding countryside. This long walk takes you along its banks, with hillsides offering exceptional views and shady valleys with discreet streams.
Due to bad weather, the route along the stream has been badly damaged after the (6) (after crossing the D29). However, it remains accessible if you take care.
The viewpoints of Layrac-sur-Tarn
Criss-crossed by a myriad of small streams, the hillsides of Layrac will charm you with their diverse landscapes and numerous vantage points offering views stretching far into the distance on a clear day, all the way to the Pyrenees.
There are alternative routes available on this trail.
The Garouille oaks
Through woods and high hills, this route offers several facets of this green hillside with unobstructed views of the surrounding countryside before descending back down to the plain.
Before completing the circular, take a bucolic break in the shade of the three-hundred-year-old oak trees, which have been waiting for you for so long!
From valleys to hillsides from Bondigoux
Climb up to take in the view, give in to the call of the forest, descend into the valley and enjoy the silence.
This route has two variants for descending from the plateau, which form a circular loop within the circular loop for twice the fun!
The Tour des Marcais
A pleasant walk through the countryside. With two riding centres along the route, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to spot horses in the meadows. At the Éconotre centre, you can easily join the Voie Verte, which runs through our area for 17 km.
A tour of the vineyards in Villematier
A touch of the countryside for a gentle, flat route through the fields, perfect for a leisurely stroll or a brisk walk. This route, which takes in a few quiet roads and sections of wide tracks, can be enjoyed in any season. As you complete the circular route, you’ll have plenty of time to discover a grape variety with real character: the Négrette.
Make the most of it and enjoy a taste in moderation.
The Valette Lakes
After skirting the hillside, this route takes you past the old gravel pits, now returned to nature. This Lakes site, designated a Sensitive Natural Area, features a wide variety of environments offering a range of habitats, including the bird sanctuary, which is home to, amongst others, a large colony of grey herons. Don’t forget your binoculars!
From the Tarn to the Mill
A pleasant hike which, after a short climb up the hillside, will take you to a place called Le Moulin, a vanished legacy of the pastry-making tradition. You can imagine the fields of yesteryear and enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding countryside before returning to the riverbank.
Magdelaine-sur-Tarn lake circular route
A key route through the fields that combines nature and heritage and allows you to join the Greenway to continue your exploration. An easy walk that ends at the edge of a small lake where you can relax. This circular loop takes you along mostly paved paths, keeping you dry in wet weather. Bring a hat on sunny days!
On the way to Buzet Forest
This is a varied route where country lanes will take you to the heart of the Buzet forest, which you will have plenty of time to explore. Don't miss a visit to the biodiversity centre to learn all about this sensitive natural area.
The forest you are visiting is a sensitive natural area. Please ensure you comply with the regulations in force.
The Filhols streams
A route that is 90% footpaths and a lovely walk where you can happily jump over streams and admire the scenery from above!
This route is part of the "Circular Tour of Filhols" route starting from Villemur, in a shorter version to make it accessible to families with children.
Le Grand Bois in Buzet-sur-Tarn
On the hillside, you’ll follow a long, wooded and shaded path to immerse yourself in the heart of nature for a forest walk best enjoyed in dry weather. A short climb awaits you to reach the higher ground; the rest of the route is gentle.
