  1. S/E : km 0 - alt. 49 m
  2. 1 : km 0.03 - alt. 51 m - Leaving the hotel, turn right and follow the road to Hackness, Turn right at the Village Hall towards Ayton. - 01
  3. 2 : km 0.72 - alt. 47 m - After passing Mill Farm take the Path on the right - 02
  4. 3 : km 0.8 - alt. 46 m - Cross over the footbridge and take the footpath directly ahead (not alongside the river). Climb over two stiles to reach Wrench Green. - 03
  5. 4 : km 1.16 - alt. 60 m - As you leave Wrench Green, take the road directly in front of you - uphill! This climb is a steady slog, which gets steeper before it finally flattens out when you reach the plateau. - 04
  6. 5 : km 2.4 - alt. 195 m - At the T junction turn right and follow the Tabular Hills Walk along the main track. - 05
  7. 6 : km 3.62 - alt. 205 m - Highwood Brow Viewpoint After about 1 km you reach a car park. There are a couple of benches here and a board indicating what you can see. After taking in the view, continue along the main track. - 06
  8. 7 : km 4.73 - alt. 209 m - Raptor Point After about 700m you will reach another car park, with a sign saying 'Raptor Point Viewpoint' . Take the small track leading from the back of the car park to. After about 250m you reach the viewpoint. There are several benches here with good views over the Troutsdale valley. There may well be photograpers and birders there waiting for a sighting of something. You can return via the small path to the carpark and continue on the main track. Alternatively, for an adventure, follow the narrow track from the viewpoint along the brow until it turns left back towards the main track. - 07
  9. 8 : km 4.98 - alt. 213 m - Here the path back to the main track may be very wet and you will have to negotiate your way back to the main track by finding a path through the trees parallel to the path. Once back to the main track, turn right and continue. - 08
  10. 9 : km 6.28 - alt. 220 m - After about 700m the track splits, and two other tracks join. Turn immediately right, following the track almost back on yourself. - 09
  11. 10 : km 6.94 - alt. 156 m - Descend along this track for about 500m until you meet other tracks crossing . You should continue straight on down a small footpath (signed) which takes you down to the river - 10
  12. 11 : km 7.44 - alt. 90 m - Cross over the footbridge and climb out of the valley at the side of the field. - 11
  13. 12 : km 7.66 - alt. 100 m - Go through the gate - 12
  14. 13 : km 7.76 - alt. 106 m - Turn right through the gate into a field. This field has a nice view of the Troutsdale valley and may be a good place for lunch. - 13
  15. 14 : km 8.07 - alt. 113 m - Exit the field through a gate on to the road. At this point there is a ruined Edwardian Chapel. Turn right and walk along the road. - 14
  16. 15 : km 8.9 - alt. 97 m - The road turns right at Troutsdale Low Hall. Continue along the road for another 1.5km - 15
  17. 16 : km 10.6 - alt. 52 m - As the road crosses the river, turn right through a gate into the meadow. - 16
  18. 17 : km 10.7 - alt. 58 m - Cross the footbridge and turn left. - 17
  19. 18 : km 10.94 - alt. 53 m - Cross the footbridge and over the stile on to the river bank path - 18
  20. 19 : km 11.43 - alt. 50 m - After 500m the path reaches a road leading to Wood House with a bridge over the river. Cross the road and continue along the river bank for approximately 1.5 km until you reach the footbridge leading to Wrench Green, which you crossed earlier in the walk. - 19
  21. 20 : km 13.04 - alt. 46 m - Cross the footbridge and retrace your steps to the hotel. - 20
  22. S/E : km 13.84 - alt. 49 m
