A short walk around the Plague Wall "Mur de la Peste" Cabrièresd'Avignon

Start : Car park behind the town hall of Cabrières d'Avignon.
Follow the yellow waymarkers.

(D/A) From the car park, walk to the Cours Jean Giono street and turn left. At the road junction, turn right on to the "Grand'Rue" and walk up towards the top of the village. Reach a junction with a fountain and plane trees, turn left on to the "Rue du Château" and carry on the "Chemin de la Pourtalette": one of the village's "lavoirs" (old washhouses) is on your left-hand side. Carry on alongside the castle. At the next junction, turn right at the calvary, towards the "Mur de la Peste" junction.

(1) Leave "Chemin des Barres" on your right (it's the way back), turn left on the "Chemin de la Muscadelle" which is a dead end. Go to the end of the paved road and continue on the dirt road. Go straight up to a widened area with a crossroads and, on your left, a second calvary. Continue straight ahead on the path that goes down to the start of the "Chemin de la Peste".

(2) At the crossroads with a signpost "le Mur de la Peste", turn right towards La Pouraque / La Peithe Est. Follow the "Mur de la Peste" until you reach the fire department track but do not take that track.

(3) Take the path that heads off at a right angle to the fire department track. Stay on the main path, and after a hundred metres, at the fork, go left. Further on, the path joins another one coming from the left (Chemin de Terre Rouge), turn right and continue south until you reach a cistern. Turn left until you reach a small road called Chemin des Barres.

(4) Take it to the right and go south as far as the intersection with the Chemin de Muscadelle you met at the beginning.
