Chenôve vineyard

A short walk well suited to families with children, through the vineyards, then through woodland, and ending in a park with a children’s play area and animals.

Description of the walk

Park in the car park at the farm next to the school, beside Square Pierre Curie.

(S/E) On leaving the car park, turn right onto the small road (south–south-west). It runs alongside the vineyards, then crosses through them, until it joins the road to the Marsannay-la-Côte recycling centre.

(1) Turn right onto this road, heading north-west then north, until you reach a small car park.

(2) Turn right onto the path (Sentier Bombi) signposted ‘Chenôve orientation table’. It becomes a footpath running along the edge of the woods. Stay close to the edge until you approach the high-voltage power line, where the path bends left, then right. You’ll reach the orientation table (on the right-hand side of the path).

(3) Continue along the path until you soon reach Rue Jean Cornu. Walk down this street to the right until you reach Rue Paul Bert, then turn right onto it and walk for about fifty metres.

(4) Enter the square (on the right) and walk through the Parc du Clos du Roy. On leaving the park, continue straight ahead along the Chemin du Bas du Clos du Roy until you reach the car park (S/E).

Notes

Picnic table at point (3) (orientation table)

Worth a visit

- Vineyards displaying their sumptuous colours in late October.
- Between points (2) and (3), beautiful views of the vineyards in the foreground, and in the distance the Jura Mountains, including Mont Poupet, and sometimes even Mont Blanc beyond.
- The Chenôve orientation board is, unfortunately, currently damaged (the information panel is missing), and the view is obstructed by trees.
- Nearby: Saint-Nazaire Church and the Wine Presses of the Dukes of Burgundy.

Thank you for this lovely route, which starts and ends on the road but, in between, takes us along a beautiful path where we can enjoy several lovely views.
It’s a bit busy, but not too bad, on this Sunday afternoon.
The route is mostly in the open.

More of a stroll than a hike, with no difficulty. Nice in spring
