Parking at the Petitefontaine town hall.
The hike is marked with a green ring.
(S/E) Head left towards the village centre. Cross the Saint-Nicolas River and immediately turn right onto Rue du Lac.
(1) On leaving Petitefontaine, take the farm track opposite. Do not take the first right. At the crossroads, admire a beautiful work of art by Mala-Hela Gascard depicting three horses. Continue straight ahead at the first crossroads.
(2) At the second crossroads, before the power line, turn left and cross the Bois Dernier. Turn right, pass under the power line, walk along a copse and enter the forest. At the first crossroads, continue straight ahead.
(3) At the edge of the forest, take the path diagonally to the left. 30 metres further on, you will find another path with other markings. Continue straight ahead. 600 metres further on, at the first crossroads, turn onto the second path on the left. In this section, follow the Anneau Vert markings carefully. 300 metres further on, turn left at the hairpin bend.
(4) On the left side of the path, there are three concrete shelters, one of which has a lookout post. An inscription gives the date of construction: 1918. Be careful, you will pass by without seeing them if you are not looking for them. Pass under a power line before arriving at the D11.
(5) There is a very interesting information panel. Look for the sign indicating "modified route". Turn right and 300 metres further on, turn left onto the wide forest path.
If you wish to take a break, turn left at Lac de la Seigneurie 200 metres away and retrace your steps.
(6) At the crossroads, go straight ahead. A sign indicates the end of the modified route. Leave a path on your right and walk along the Étang Bouchon. Cross a small stream and continue straight ahead. Look for the pumping station just before the D15.
(7) Turn left and take the D15 on the left, crossing Petitefontaine. Walk along the Saint-Nicolas, cross it on the bridge on the right and return to the starting car park (S/E).
