Park in the car park at Plougasnou-Saint-Jean-du-Doigt beach.
(S/E) Set off along the beach, heading east-north-east with the road on your right and the sea on your left. At the roundabout on the road, return to the road and follow the road opposite towards Saint-Jean-du-Doigt along the footpath/cycle path. Ignore a road on the left.
(1) At the Fork in the road, turn left onto Rue Ker François. Ignore a road on the left. At the next junction, with a tall cross on the left (though well hidden by vegetation in 2026), continue left onto Rue du Falaizou, which leads uphill. Further on, pass a wash house on the left (its fountain is behind it, slightly obscured by a hedge) then arrive at a crossroads with another fountain and its information sign, the Fontaine de Pen ar C’hra.
(2) Follow the road to the left towards Guimaec, then turn onto the first road on the right, still heading towards Guimaec. At the next junction, turn right into a cul-de-sac towards Vallée des Moulins.
(3) At the sign marking the hamlet of Guib, in the right-hand bend of the road, take a hairpin bend to the left. At the Fork in the road just after this, keep left, then at the T-junction with a path, turn right. The path descends and leads to a junction in the woodland (ABC Atlas de la Biodiversité Communale marker).
(4) Turn left onto a variant of the Vallée des Moulins route.
(5) At the next junction, head up the path on the left and return to the higher ground of the valley. Take the first path on the right, signposted towards the Chapelle Saint-Mélar, then turn right again at the houses, still heading towards the Chapelle Saint-Mélar. The chapel is about a hundred metres further on, on the right. The fountain is below the chapel. A lovely spot.
(6) Return to the path and follow it to the right. You’ll come to a road; follow it to the right. Ignore a path on the left, and further on, take the path on the right. You’ll reach a junction you passed on the way there.
(5) Carry on straight ahead, following the route in the opposite direction to the outward journey, until you reach the next junction (ABC marker).
(4) Carry on to the left. The path becomes suitable for vehicles at a place called Goris. Turn right onto the next path (signposted ‘Vallée des Moulins’ in the opposite direction), which leads onto a road.
(7) Follow the road to the right and pass through the hamlet of Vallée des Moulins. At the end of this road, you’ll arrive in the centre of Saint-Jean-du-Doigt. Turn right at the crossroads to reach the parish churchyard.
(8) Opposite the entrance to the churchyard, a few steps to the right along Rue de la Duchesse Anne reveal the façade of a beautiful house. Then explore the churchyard with its fountain (unusual for a churchyard) and the first oratory on this walk, the Oratoire du Sacre, followed by the Church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste.
As you leave the enclosure, turn right onto Route de la Plage, continue to the bridge where you’ll find an information panel on the Municipal Biodiversity Atlas (with a mural on the house on the right), then retrace your steps for a few metres and turn right onto Chemin Saint-Julien (towards the campsite). Then follow the path branching off to the right, and at the crossroads where four paths meet, turn left. Further up, you’ll reach the hamlet of Kergaradec, where there’s a pretty washhouse fountain.
(9) Carry on straight ahead along the road. At the crossroads, you’ll find the second oratory on this walk, the beautiful Oratory of Notre-Dame de Lorette. Then follow Rue de l’Oratoire (admittedly not the most interesting part of the route) to Plougasnou Church, then turn right onto Route de la Plage and follow it for about 100 metres. Turn right to reach the cemetery, in the middle of which stands the third wayside shrine on the walk, the Chapelle du Sacre.
(10) Return to Route de la Plage and continue to the right. For a round trip, turn left onto the Chemin de Lezouzrd, which climbs steeply, then turn right onto the coastal path. Just to the left is a small chapel. Further on, to the right, on a private property, you’ll notice another chapel. Continue along the coastal path to a headland offering a view of the open sea, the Roche du Chevalier.
(11) Retrace your steps and take Route de la Plage on the left (with a wash house on the right 100 m further on) to return to the beach car park (S/E).
