Description of the walk

(S) Take the wide track heading south-east, crossing the upper Saint-Luc ski area.

(1) Pass in front of the lower station of Coutta. Cross the ski lift line from Chalet Blanc (not shown on the map).

(2) Walk across the Armina mountain pasture, almost horizontally, until you reach Lake Armina.

(3) A hundred metres further on, join the path leading to Lac de Bella Tola and then to the summit of the same name. Turn right onto this path, join the Tour du Cervin path (Swiss red and white signposting) and take the left-hand path with a few hairpin bends to Col du Meidpass.

(4) Begin the descent and reach Lake Meidsee.

(5) Continue along a long trail through the mountain pasture to reach the hamlet of Meide.

(6) Finish the descent through the forest via a few pleasant hairpin bends to reach today's destination, the Schwarzhorn Hotel in Gruben (E).

Notes

Water in the streams and fountains of Meide.
A pleasant stop (in good weather, of course) at Lake Meidsee.

Experience in Meide: It was very hot when we arrived in Meide, and in this beautiful hamlet, a Swiss flag flew above a chalet. I said aloud, "Great, a refreshment bar, we'll be able to have a beer." A reply came back with a strong Swiss accent: "There's no refreshment bar here, but there's beer in the 4/4." And our interlocutor brought us beers and showed us around his chalet... a real gem. We stayed for a good hour talking. Guess what about? Mountains, of course.

Worth a visit

At this stage, you just have to look up to enjoy the spectacle of the surrounding peaks.
