Description of the walk

Park in the car park at the exit of the village of Le Brusquet.

(S/E) Take the main street towards the village centre.

(1) Turn left onto Chemin des Gravas. Pass a wash house and continue across the Ruisseau le Mige Sol via a small wooden bridge. Pass by the “slump balls”, a geological curiosity explained on an information panel nearby. The path winds its way to the forest park at a place called Daumas.

(2) From the forest park, turn right towards La Javie along a wide path that joins the forest track. Continue to the left.

(3) Further on, leave the forest park car park on your left and the fitness trail on your right, and continue along the path behind the boulders at a bend. Cross the D200 with care and take the track opposite, slightly to the left.

(4) Leave the track and take the path on the left. The path goes through a wood, then along the edge of a field and across an occasional stream. At a cairn, take the path on the left. A lovely climb up to Notre-Dame de Lauzière.

(5) Continuing from the chapel, follow the ridge to a path junction.

(6) Leave the ridge and take the path on the left. It gradually widens and joins the forest track. Follow it downhill to the right. You’ll reach a bend where there’s a manhole cover on the ground

(7) Leave the track, turn left, then just before a building surrounded by wire fencing, take a small path that descends to the right. Continue past the houses. After going round a property at a right angle, carry on straight ahead towards the church. Cross the D200 again with care and take the Chemin du Pilon opposite. At the end, under the arched passageway, rejoin the main road and turn left.

(1) Continue straight on to reach the starting car park (S/E).

A lovely little walk on a very hot day. The first section through the woodland was very pleasant; we did have a few moments of uncertainty along the way, but we made the right choices by following the GPS track. Note that there are picnic tables in the forest park. The second section was also interesting, but you do need to pay close attention at point 4 to spot the path leading uphill to the left – once again, thank goodness for the GPS.

A lovely short walk offering a chance to explore a wide variety of ecosystems and enjoy some stunning views. The route description is accurate and reliable: the only slight difficulty is finding the path (which is not very visible) at point 4, especially as the starting point is obscured by the tab (4) on the map, making it hard to pinpoint exactly.

Thank you for this walking route; we really enjoyed it. There are some interesting information boards. At this time of year, the laburnums and broom were in bloom, along with a few orchids. We extended the route by taking a round trip along the banks of the Bléone before heading up to the chapel.

A very pleasant walk; good efforts have been made to maintain the lower section of the path, although at this time of year there are quite a few muddy and slippery sections (sturdy footwear is essential). The climb up to Notre-Dame de Lauzière requires a bit more care (the path is in poor condition on unstable ground of crumbly slate). Very beautiful views of Le Blayeul and the Bléone valley. A route that can easily be completed in half a day.

My knees are giving out. I’m putting together a special hiking guide because the routes and maps look really well put together. Thanks
