This version can be done from Jiri, accessible by bus from Kathmandu, and ends in Salleri, where there are also buses to Kathmandu. It includes a few optional detours that are interesting for acclimatisation: Gokyo Ri, Everest Base Camp, Chukhung Ri.
It is also possible to depart by bus from Phaplu (2024). A road is even under construction on the rest of the circuit.
A more classic version starts from Lukla, accessible by plane from Kathmandu.
This trek required several permits when we did it in 2024:
- Gaurishankar Conservation Area permit (for the passage from Jiri to Lukla): 2,000 NPR (approximately £15)
- Sagarmatha National Park permit: 3,000 NPR
- TIMS Card (Trekkers' Information Management System): 2,000 NPR
This version of the trek includes common detours on the 3-pass trek (Gokyo Ri, EBC, etc.). Some can be avoided and others can be added! These detours are nevertheless interesting for acclimatisation.
Completed by the author in May 2024 (end of season), the trek was also documented in this video.
