Cheplung - Namche

First day on the Three Passes Trek! The days will be shorter from now on, but the altitude will also start to increase!

There will be a lot more traffic (trekkers, porters, cows, mules, ponies, etc.)! Some pretty Himalayan footbridges!

This walk is part of a multi-day hike: Three Pass Trek from Jiri

Notes

From here, the path is well marked and very easy to follow!

At Monjo, you enter Sagarmatha National Park! (Sagarmatha = Everest in Nepali)

Here, two permits are required (TIMS and Sagarmatha National Park Permit).

In Namche Bazaar, it is common to stay at least two nights in order to gradually acclimatise your body to the altitude and possibly go on an acclimatisation hike!

Worth a visit

The end point of the hike is Namche Bazaar, the "Capital of the Sherpas", at an altitude of 3,440 metres. It is a large village where you can stock up on souvenirs, equipment, etc.! There are numerous hotels and restaurants, bakeries, bars, and even a tattoo parlour and a hairdresser's for those who are not in a hurry!
