Trégunc between Trévignon and La Jument

A long walk to fully enjoy the seaside. Between the rocky headlands of Trévignon and La Jument, the coastal path winds through a protected nature reserve, between the ocean and the lagoons inhabited by a wealth of wildlife. As it moves away from the sea, the path reveals the unspoilt natural landscape and architectural heritage characteristic of the region.

Description of the walk

Start at the car park at the base of Pointe de Kerjean, near Kersidan Beach.

GR 34 Marked in white and red

(S/E) Leave the car park via the south exit and walk around Pointe de Kerjean. Follow the coastal path westwards to Pointe de Trévignon.

(1). Take a stroll around to explore the fort, the headland’s lighthouse and a charming little harbour – quite surprising, with the SNSM lifeboat station in the middle – which is very lively. Continue westwards, still on the GR®.

(2) Once past the last houses of the village, the path follows, for about 5 km, a narrow strip of sand between the sea and a succession of natural lakes – Loc’h Coziou, Loc’h ar Guer, Loc’h Wring, Loc’h Lougar and Loc’h Louriec – home to numerous birds.

(3) From the end of Kerdallé Beach, the coast becomes rocky again and the shoreline is inhabited in places. Continue along the coast to Pointe de la Jument, from where the Glénan Islands can be seen offshore, followed by Concarneau Bay.

(4) Continue to the small natural harbour, halfway through our walk, where you can stop for a break to enjoy the surroundings.

(5) Set off again, retracing your steps. After Pendruc Beach, the path runs alongside the road. Then turn left onto the Route de Kerlaën.

Off theGR®

(6) Turn right onto thesecond path which runs alongside the houses until you reach another path leading back to the sea. Continue left until you reach the middle of Kerdallé Beach, then turn onto the path on the left and take the Kerdallé road, which crosses the village with its remarkable communal bread oven.

(7) Continue to a three-way junction.

(8) Turn right towards Beg Roz Ruad and follow this road to Kerlosquen.

(9) Turn right and continue to Kerouini.

(10) Continue to the coast.

GR 34 Marked in white and red

Turn left, follow the Loc'h Coziou and pass the coastal house.

Off theGR®

Turn left and continue to the entrance to Kerléo.

PR marked in yellow

(11) Turn right onto a path that leads back to a small road leading to the D1.

(12) Follow it for 100 m to the right and turn left (bread oven) towards the Saint-Philibert Chapel.

(13) After the chapel, take a lane to the right, then left.

(14) At the crossroads, turn right towards Kerjean, cross the village and turn left into a dead-end.

(15) Take a path on the right that leads to the coast. Cross the Route de la Corniche to return to the starting car park on the right (S/E).

There are few shelters along the coast between the two headlands; some sections on the sand require sturdy footwear.

Worth a visit

This walk continues eastwards as the route known as Trégunc-Névez from Pointe de Kerjean to Port Manec'h.

Visit the village of Trégunc and, a little further on, Concarneau.
The small villages are charming, often featuring traditional houses and other typical buildings.

Hello,
The route offers the chance to spot many species of birds: hoopoe, great crested grebe, plovers, etc.
A lovely walk to the Pointe de la Jument.
On the way back, at the first circular loop we turned back as the path no longer exists at the end of the second road on the right (after marker 6). So do not go that way
At the second circular route (markers 7, 8, 9, 10), most of the route follows a narrow, very busy road, which is dangerous for walkers, and through fields, so there is nothing of particular interest. Best avoided.
If you just do the out-and-back along the coastal path, it makes for a lovely walk.

A lovely winter walk, as you can walk along the beach and avoid the mud. The wildlife around the coastal ponds is remarkable.

Thanks, LEOJ, for your comment. Judging by the map, it doesn’t seem possible to find an alternative to the road. The only option is to do this walk when it’s raining, so there are fewer cars heading to the beach car park...

A lovely walk. The only tricky bit is the stretch through the sand along the Trévignon dune.

Coastal section: very pretty, even though the route is long (nearly 25 km): the scenery is stunning, especially when the weather is fine!

Inland sections: interesting when passing through certain villages (old oven, houses with standing stones, plots surrounded by standing stones...

  • Circular route around the village of Loc’h Louriec: ??? The junction isn’t very clear;
  • circular route via Kerdallé, Karadroc’h, Beg-Roz Ruat, Kerlosquen, Kerouini: follows a road very busy in summer with motorists heading to the beaches, so... DANGER! Would it be possible to have a footpath between Lanénos and Kerouini, in particular?
  • circular route around the Pointe de Trévignon, via Saint-Philibert: good (paths between St-Philibert and the Pointe de Kerjean); from Trévignon beach to St-Philibert: caution, danger (due to traffic)

A lovely walk taking in the sea, marshes and beautiful rock formations. The landscape changes constantly along the route: you start at the cliffs of Trévignon, then head towards the ponds (a long stretch of sandy path that really takes it out of your legs!) and on to a more rugged landscape at Pointe de la Jument.

For hikers tackling the GR34 in stages, do pop in for a stay at Le Suroît campsite at Pointe de Kerjan: the starting point for this hike.
There is a special rate for hikers.
