Description of the walk

Departure from the Pointe de Trévignon car park, near a restaurant, at the end of Route de la Pointe.

(S/E) Walk up Route de la Pointe for a few dozen metres, then turn left onto the coastal path (GR®34). Pass La Baleine beach and continue on theGR®34to the Maison du Littoral car park.

(1) Turn right onto a small gravel road which continues as a path before crossing Route des Étangs, near the village of Kerlin.

(2) Take the small road opposite. Note the stone house on the left. At the end of the village, the road continues along a path. Follow this path until you reach a small road near the hamlet of Kerléo.

(3) Follow it to the right for a few metres, then turn left onto a path that gradually descends towards a stream. Cross it and continue to the Kerléo road. Follow it to the right and you will reach the D1.

(4) Turn right onto the D1 and follow it for a few dozen metres along a paved passageway. Cross it carefully at the pharmacy and continue along a small road towards the village of Saint-Philibert until you reach a chapel. Note the two protohistoric steles and the fountain.
Go past the chapel, take the street immediately on the right and look for a path on the left behind a restaurant.

(5) Follow it, turn left at the first intersection and continue straight ahead, ignoring all the paths on the left and right, until you cross the Kersidan road.

(6) Turn left onto this road, follow it for a few dozen metres and turn right towards the village of Tréhubert (Tréhuber on the IGN map). Follow this road to a Y-junction, turn left onto a small road called Hent Laez Dachenn and continue to a group of beautiful thatched cottages. Retrace your steps for a few metres and turn left onto a fairly inconspicuous path.

(7) Continue along this slightly downhill path, pass behind a group of houses and continue to an intersection that does not appear on the 1:25,000 IGN maps.

(8) Follow the path on the left to cross the Ruisseau de Dourveil, the boundary between Trégunc and Névez, via a footbridge, and go up a path that continues to the right, then to the left along the edge of fields until you reach the intersection with a gravel path. Turn right onto this path, which continues along a small road leading up to the village of Kercanic.

(9) Continue straight ahead through a beautiful cluster of perfectly restored thatched cottages. Turn left onto a path at a cottage with a red door and shutters, undoubtedly the most photographed in Kercanic. Turn right at the next intersection and continue to the intersection with the Kercanic road. Turn left, then right and you will reach the D1.

(10) Cross the D1 with caution and follow it to the left for a few dozen metres before taking the first street on the right. Follow it for a few dozen metres, turn right onto Rue Hent Sabl and you will reach theGR®34, near Dourveil Beach.

(11) Follow theGR®34to the right, past Dourveil and Kersidan beaches, until you reach Pointe de Kerjean. Take the time to admire the view of Raguénez Island, Île Verte and Pointe de Trévignon. In the distance to the south-west, you can see the Glénan Archipelago.

(12) Continue on theGR®34and pass the beaches of Don and Trez Cao before reaching the Pointe de Trévignon car park (S/E).

Notes

Please note: during hunting season, battues (hunts) are sometimes organised around Kercanic.

Between (5) and (9), the paths can be very muddy in winter or after heavy rain. Waterproof hiking boots are strongly recommended.

Between (5) and (7), several trails join theGR®34. This makes it possible to adjust the distance to suit your preferences.

The trail markings are not described. They are not very useful and can even be confusing or disconcerting. It is best to ignore them when they appear, as this route is a succession of marked and unmarked sections where several other walking and cycling routes intersect and criss-cross. Refer to the map and description or, more simply, to the Visorando app.

The coastal path can be busy in the summer. It is much quieter once you leave it behind and head into the countryside.

Alternative starting points are the car parks at Baleine, Dourveil, Kersidan, Don and Trez Cao beaches, as well as the Maison du Littoral.

Picnic tables and toilets are available near the main beaches.

Worth a visit

Cliffs, dunes and beaches at La Baleine, Dourveil, Kersidan, Le Don, Trez Cao and Pointe de Kerjean.

Beautiful views of the Pointe de Trévignon and Pointe de Kerjean, Île de Raguénez and Île Verte and, on a clear day, Concarneau Bay, Pointe de Mousterlin and the Glénan Archipelago.

Loc'h Coziou lake.

Fort, lighthouse and small port at Pointe de Trévignon.
Pointe de Kerjean.

Chapel, fountain and steles of Saint-Philibert.

Village and cottages of Kerlin.
Village and cottages of Tréhubert.
Village and cottages of Kercanic.

Rich architectural heritage (stone houses, bread ovens, wells, fountains and wash houses) in the inland villages.

Hello
A superb hike that alternates between ocean, land and ocean

A few comments:
After point 3 and crossing the stream, a yellow marker indicates to turn left and follow the stream (the marker looks recent). Do not follow it if you are sticking to the route.
Point 7! It is now marked

At St. Philibert, there is a fish restaurant. It seems to have a good reputation (see internet), but I didn't try it as the weather was not good and there was a risk of rain, so I didn't have time.

With a few variations, I have 15.6 km, but when you love something, you don't count the cost.

Thank you for this hike.

Quite a few trees were down after last November's storm, but the trail was clear.
Hike completed on 11 June in good weather, the trail was dry.

A route that I used to do in sections without ever having completed it in its entirety.
Some parts were cluttered with the remains of Storm Ciaran (fallen trees and tangled branches) and there was a strong headwind on the coastal section:
These few difficulties add spice to this magnificent, easy and highly recommended hike...

A very beautiful and uncrowded route! The route on the map is easy to follow.
Several paths were quite wet after the recent rains (which were welcome at this time of year), so it's best to do this walk in dry weather.
